By-Weekly Blog for Infants and Toddlers

Greeting dear parents,

We had an exciting two weeks, with learning how to share material with our friends and using the class materials along with everybody. In this two-weeks’ time we welcomed two new friends to our group, Yamuni and Alex! We are happy to say that everyone is working on making our new friends feel comfortable and welcomed.

We had lots of exploration time in large group, we sang a ‘Hello’ song to know each other’s names, we sing the children favorite songs like ‘The wheels on the bus’, ‘Baby shark’ and ‘Head shoulder knees and toes’ and sing some finger plays like ‘One, two’ and Finger family song.

We also worked on our daily attendance with the children, it was so exciting for them to look around the circle and see who is here and who is not here. We kept on practicing some of our sign language like ‘Please’, ‘Thank you’, ‘You are welcome’, ‘Share’, ‘More’, ‘Finished’ and ‘Yes’, sign language helps infant children so they can communicate with the other children, nannies, and their teachers. We also read this week’s favorite book called “All about me”.

Reminder

- We have planned to celebrate Meskel by singing the tradition song of Ethiopia ÁBEBAYHUSH’and making a bonfire on 26th of September so that through out the coming week we are going to practice it together.

- School will be half day on September 26th

- School will be closed on September 27th

- We invite all dear parents to join our celebration of the bonfire (DEMERA) on September 26th at 11:00 o’clock!

Music

After making a big circle we sat down and played different songs and sang along with our friends, then we explore with the different musical instruments like piano, xylophone, and shakers.

Math

We start our math color sorting activity with ‘blue and red’ colors, the materials we used were blue and red boxes and blue and red blocks. We first put the color blocks on the mat and we late them explore with those colors, some of our friends were making blue house and some made a red phone. After a while we started to sort those colors then the children put red blocks in red box, blue blocks in blue box. The activity was engaging, for next week we are going to continue exploring with other colors.

Art

What a wonderful time we had through out the art class! The children were exposed to some paper, glue and got to tear then stick it on the paper! Such kind of activity seems just fun but has got a very nice influence on the strengthen the kids’ fine motor skill

Library

In our library class we talked about the rules and expectations of the library. Such not tearing books, we do not step on books, and we do not throw books. After going through the rules and expectations, we then started to explore with different books individually and before cleaning up we sat together and read one book.
