Early Pre-K This Week

Dear parents,

We hope this blog post finds you well! We wanted to share with you the activities we've been busy with this week.

Large group:

This week in our large group, we continued learning about the number fourteen and the cylinder shape. For phonics, we focused on the letter "I" sound. During our morning messages, we reviewed the 2D shapes we learned before, created a simple pattern, discussed how we can be kind to our friends and teachers, and learned about how plants grow bigger. The kids' favorite song this week was "Hop Little Bunnies," which they enjoyed so much that they requested it every day.

“The speaker can roll” Leul

“Sun light” Solomon

“No Kicking” Mitsuki

Math: Throughout the week, the children have been improving their understanding of graphing concepts. We sorted and counted various items such as police cars, cubes, and trains.

“If we count all of them together, they will be ten” Noam

Music: We had an exciting music session with the children where they imitated the beats made on the drum by clapping, and they did an excellent job. Then, they began to create their own rhythm. After that, we played a fun game where the kids moved to one side if they heard the drum beat and to the other side if they heard the xylophone.

Ethiopian center: In the Ethiopian center this week the kids had fun making Injira. They started by mixing the flour and water then they put it on the traditional pan and cover it waiting for it to be cooked! They also made some coffee and read a story together.

Science: This week in our science class, we began a new topic on gardening. We took the session outdoors to a grassy area, examined the plants, and discussed how to plant seeds, the necessary materials, and what plants need to grow. The children were enthusiastic and requested to plant their own seeds. We agreed to do so in the upcoming weeks.

“I want to plant apple” Leopold.

“Blue Flower” Alen

Literacy: This week literacy session we worked on our journals! Look at us busy drawing.

“Monster” Malachi

“This is flower, some leaves and heart” Tang Tang

Library: This week's storybook was titled "The Small Seed" and focused on gardening. The kids were fascinated by the journey of a small seed turning into a beautiful flower.

Art: In today’s art session we made an inch warm on a green leaf. We used colorful pom poms and buttons for the eyes.
