Dear parents,

We hope this blog finds you well. Here in our Preschool class, it has been another wonderful week, filled with hands-on learning, exploration, and bonding. We warmly invite you to read our weekly highlights and explore all the wonderful learning moments your children experienced this week.

Large group

In our large group session, we started as usual, by sitting together in a big circle. Our circle time routine creates a warm and welcoming environment. The children happily shared their morning routines, practicing confidence, speaking, and listening skills. Next, they chose to sing our Good Morning song either sitting or standing, which made the activity fun and engaging. We then reviewed Zoo-Phonics letters using sounds, actions, and movements to support active learning.

After that, we discussed the weather and days of the week, followed by taking attendance to see who was present and absent. This helped build awareness and a sense of belonging in the class. To end the session, we explored our message board about water animals. The children excitedly named and discussed animals such as fish, dolphin, crab, seahorse, starfish, shark, and whale while looking at pictures together. It was a joyful and interactive session filled with communication, participation, and learning, helping us start the day in a positive and happy way.

Small group sessions

Math

In our math session, we explored the concept of measurement using different materials such as books, wooden and soft blocks, full and empty water bottles, different rulers, and markers. The students had a hands-on experience where they held, compared, and measured the items one by one, taking turns. They were able to understand the ideas of big and small, heavy and light, and full and empty very well through practice. It was a fun and engaging session. The students were excited, active, and enjoyed learning through real objects. The activity went really well and supported their understanding of measurement in a meaningful way.

Art

In our art session, our students shared that they wanted to create the moon. We talked about what kind of moon they would like to make and what they see during night time. The students also shared their nighttime routines and experiences. After our discussion, we provided different paints of their choice, art smocks, brushes, and paper. Each student created their own moon independently. It was a wonderful experience to see their creativity and imagination come to life. We truly appreciated all their artistic skills and the beautiful ideas they expressed through their artwork.

 Science

In our science session, we continued developing our water animal art project. First, we drew different water animal shapes on the canvas using pencils, including fish, crab, starfish, octopus, jellyfish, and seahorse. After that, the students began a hands-on activity by applying a mixture of paper, glue, and water to create a 3D effect on the canvas. Each student had a chance to participate and work together in turns as a group. Once finished, we placed the canvas in a sunny area to dry. The students really enjoyed the process, especially choosing their favorite water animals and exploring the materials. It was a meaningful and engaging hands-on activity that supported their creativity and teamwork. Next week, after the canvas is fully dry, the students will complete their artwork by painting their favorite colors and bringing their ocean scene to life.

Library

In our library session, we began by discussing important library rules with the students. We talked about being quiet in the library, taking good care of books by not tearing them, and using polite words like “please” and “thank you.” After that, we worked together to repair some books using tape and glue, which was a fun and meaningful activity for the students. Then, each child chose their favorite book and started exploring it by looking at pictures, turning pages, and asking questions. It was a calm and enjoyable session that helped the children develop respect for books and build their reading interest.
