Dear parents,

We hope this blog finds you well. Here in our Preschool class, we’ve had another wonderful and engaging week. The students participated in many exciting activities, shared their ideas with confidence, and enjoyed learning together. Please take a moment to read our weekly highlights and see the wonderful experiences your children enjoyed this week.

Large Group

During our large group session, the students started by sitting together in a big circle. We talked about our morning and shared how we were feeling. After that, we happily sang our favorite Good Morning song together. Next, we read the story “Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss, a fun and famous children’s book that encourages children to try new things. The students listened carefully and enjoyed the story. After the story, we practiced the Zoo-phonics letters from A to Z. The children were excited to say the letters and sounds together. Then we talked about the weather and the days of the week, and we also took our daily attendance. Finally, we discussed our message board topic: family. The students shared their thoughts about their families, how many people live in their homes, and whether they have siblings.

Lukas, Seamus, and Aldora said they do not have sisters or brothers.

Mohammed shared that he has a baby sister in his mommy’s belly.

Nathan and Andreas said they have sisters.

Haven shared that he has two brothers.

Nivaan and Luel said they have one brother.

Rufta, Gabriella, and Sarah said they have one sister.

It was wonderful to see the students confidently expressing themselves and listening to their friends. We had a wonderful and engaging large group session, and it was great to see the students’ development and growing confidence.

Small Group Sessions

Clay

In our clay session, the students painted the clay work they made last week using their favorite paints. It was a great time for everyone. The students remembered their work very well and were very focused while painting their creations. Some students were also inspired to make additional clay pieces while others continued decorating their work. It was a wonderful and creative time for the students, and they really enjoyed expressing their ideas through clay and paint.

Math

In our math session, we learned about different shapes such as circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, star, diamond, and heart. We also talked about the sides of the shapes. It was a wonderful time, and most of the students were able to identify the shapes. After that, we asked the students which shape they liked the most. Many of them said heart and star. The students also showed different shapes using their fingers, like heart, triangle, and diamond. Finally, we sat down together and sang our shapes song. It was a fun and enjoyable session, and we are excited to see their progress in the next week’s session!

Library

In our library session, we read a book called “Green Eggs and Ham”. The students listened to the story attentively. They communicated and shared their ideas very well during the reading time. After we finished the story, the students chose their favorite books. They enjoyed turning the pages and talking about the pictures they saw. At the end of the session, each student selected one book to take home. It was a wonderful and enjoyable time for everyone.

Art

In our art session, the students created family portraits! First, we talked about family and asked the students how many people live in their house and if they have siblings. After our discussion, we asked them if they would like to draw their families, and they all happily agreed. Parents kindly sent family pictures, and the students looked at their photos before starting their drawings. Using their favorite paper and markers, they began drawing their family members. The activity went very well, and all the students did an amazing job. We are very proud of them and loved seeing their different ideas and creativity.

Literacy

In our literacy session, the students worked on their journals. First, they took turns telling us what they planned to draw. Then they took their journal books and crayons and started drawing their ideas. After finishing, we asked them if they had drawn what they planned. The students then shared their drawings with their friends and talked about their work. The session went very well. This activity helped the students develop their speaking skills, fine motor skills, and creativity.
