Blog for Pre k and Kindergarten

We hope you enjoyed your week as much as we have. Our class had an amazing week exploring different materials and playing together!
News- We changed our classroom because our class is getting bigger, so we needed a bigger classroom! All our kids were super excited to have a wider class.

What did we do this week?
In our large group, we did our calendar by counting the day and the month through this activity, we learn the days of the week, numbers, and months of the year. Our new month February is all about LOVE, so we discussed about love, what it means, who we love and so on.
Hungry caterpillar- We keep feeding our Hungry Caterpillar by counting and writing numbers. It hits 108th day of school on this Friday.
Message Board- our message board includes exploration of numbers, sight words, writing our name and reading the message of the day. Such kind of activities have their own impact on the development of our children’s writing and reading skills.
How did our small group go?
Literacy
On the first day of the school, we worked on Letter blending in our literacy session. Since our little friends are aware of the letters with their sounds, it is time to push a bit high to word construction. With this idea in mind, we started blending words with some simple words like (hat, pat, cat, pat, fat, rat). The prek friends were practicing reading these words whereas the kindergarten friends were re writing the words while reading them.
Mathematics
In our Mathematics session, numbers become our favorite. Since numbers are basic for Mathematics activities, we keep counting, writing and identifying numbers. The prek friends practiced counting and identifying numbers by putting some animals on numbers written on chart and the kindergarten friends were identifying and writing numbers from 100 to 209.
Music and movement
It’s the session where we explore listening to music, dancing together and develop our motor, physical and social interaction. We witnessed joy, happiness, physical and social interaction enhance every day. For this week, we listened to music, danced together plus, we did some exercises of catching and throwing balls which was useful to enhance our motor skills.
Journal
Expressing our ideas in our mind becomes easy throughout the practice we do in our Journal session. In beginning of school year some friends were not Expressing their idea in their mind but surprisingly no kid in our class hesitate to express their idea in their mind which really energizes us to do more with our excellent friends.
Science
In our science session, we extended the project making a big Volcano. We made lava for our Volcano and completed the project by taking some pictures by pretending that the Volcano erupts.
Maker space
Going to our maker space was what we did in our work time on Wednesday. We sat and discussed about what ‘maker space’ means, what ‘to create’ means and what ‘loose parts are and what we can do with them. All the kids were engaged and interested about the activity.
