Greeting

Dear parents,

We are very happy to share what we have been exploring, learning, and enjoying over the past two weeks with you. Our students have been excited to come to school each day, and have enjoyed playing, exploring new activities, learning new skills, and spending time with their friends. We hope you enjoy seeing what your little ones have been doing!

Large Group

During our large group sessions, we started by singing our Hello Song. We called each child’s name, waved our hands, and said, “Hello”! Then, during attendance, the children independently found their pictures and placed them on the happy face. After attendance, we sang “The Wheels on the Bus” and “Baby Shark”. Then we enjoyed story time together. The children listened carefully, repeated words from the story, and stayed focused. At the end of large group time, our stuffed panda friend gave each child a big, warm hug. The children loved this special ending to our group time!

Library

During library time, we first showed the children how to open their books gently and how to hold a book and turn the pages one at a time. Then, the children chose their favorite books and enjoyed looking at and “reading” them independently. At the end of our library time, we came together and read one book as a group, which was a delight for all.

Gymnastics

During gymnastics class, we practiced crawling and jumping. First, the children crawled under the yarn that was placed across the chairs. After crawling, they moved to the hula hoops and practiced jumping through them. Before starting, we showed them activity and explained what to do. Some children jumped with both feet, while others walked through the hoops. Everyone had a great time and was happy and excited to participate!

Literacy and Language

During our literacy and language activity, our class explored opening and closing water bottle lids. First, they practiced twisting the lids open and closed. Then, we provided blocks and magnets for them to separate and connect. The children were very focused and engaged throughout the activity. These activities helped develop their ability to listen and follow instructions, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and problem-solving skills.

Art

During art class, we enjoyed a free-painting activity. The children wore art smocks while we prepared paints in a variety of colors. Each child chose their favorite color and began painting freely on white paper. Everyone enjoyed expressing their creativity through art.

During the second week in art class, the children created a rice collage. First, they put glue on the paper by themselves. Then, they carefully placed the rice onto the paper to create their artwork. The children were very focused, engaged, and happy throughout the activity. They enjoyed exploring the rice and creating their own collages.

Science

During our science activity, we made Play-Dough together. We prepared flour, water, oil, a plate, and food coloring. The children were excited and waited for their turn to participate. First, we put the flour on the plate. Then we added water and oil, and the children started mixing the ingredients with their hands. At the end, we added food coloring and continued mixing until the ingredients started to come together and make Play-Dough.

Math

During our math activity, we explored color sorting using musical color dots in green, blue, yellow, and red. We also prepared different colored soft blocks for the children to sort. First, the children explored the materials and learned about the different colors. Then, they began sorting the blocks by matching each block to the correct color, one at a time. The children enjoyed the activity while practicing color recognition, sorting, fine motor skills, and problem-solving.
