Growing, Learning & Exploring Together!
Dear parents,
We hope this blog finds you well. We invite you to read our weekly blog and enjoy the wonderful learning moments, activities, and fun our students experienced this week!
Happy Birthday Mida and Mathilda
Large Group
We began our large group sessions by forming a big circle and greeting one another. The children shared about their morning, what they had for breakfast, and what they enjoyed doing over the weekend. We then sang our Good Morning Song and discussed the days of the week.
The children took attendance by placing their pictures on the happy face and talked about the day’s weather while singing our Weather Song. We also read The Things I Like About Playtime, which encouraged the children to share their favorite games and activities at school.
This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to practice speaking, listening, taking turns, and sharing ideas while learning to listen to and understand their friends. It was a positive and engaging way to start our day together!
Small Group Activities
Math
In our math session, we had a wonderful time exploring different shapes! We introduced the circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, heart, star, and diamond, discussing their names and the number of sides they have.
The children then explored a variety of colorful shapes, counting them independently and identifying each shape by its name and color. They were excited to share their answers and proudly show what they had discovered.
We ended our session by singing a fun shape song, making the learning experience even more enjoyable. The children were highly engaged, participated enthusiastically, and showed great curiosity throughout the activity.
Gymnastics
In our gymnastics session, we started by warming up our bodies through stretching, jogging, and running around the gymnastics room. We then enjoyed singing and moving along to the “Walking, Walking” song.
After warming up, we introduced our activity for the day: flipping! We prepared soft mattresses for the children and invited them to take turns practicing their flips. Some children confidently completed the activity independently, while others needed a little support and encouragement from the teachers.
Everyone did a great job trying their best, and it was a fun and active session filled with smiles, movement, and excitement.
Music
During our music session, the children explored a variety of instruments, including guitars, piano, shakers, and xylophones. They took turns choosing instruments, experimenting with different sounds, and sharing with their friends. We also sang and danced along to their favorite songs, including Wash your hand, Open Shut, Five Little Monkeys, and Let’s Dance. It was a joyful and engaging session filled with music, movement, and creativity!
Cooperative Game
During our Cooperative Game session, the children had a fun and engaging Balancing Ball activity. One by one, each child chose a favorite-colored plastic ball and carefully placed it on a paper plate. They then walked toward the basket, trying their best to keep the ball balanced on the plate until they reached their destination.
For some children, the ball stayed perfectly balanced, while for others, it fell along the way. They happily tried again and encouraged themselves as they continued. Through this activity, the children practiced balance, coordination, focus, patience, and turn-taking.
It was a wonderful and enjoyable experience for all! We also enjoyed getting to see the student’s favorite colors.
Literacy
In our literacy session, we reviewed the Zoophonics letters from A to Z, practicing each letter’s sound and action together. After that, the children chose their favorite letters and used big, medium, and small pom-poms to carefully trace each letter.
The children followed the lines with great focus and enjoyed taking turns and exchanging letters with their friends. It was a fun and engaging activity that supported their letter recognition, phonics, and fine-motor skills!
Art
In our art session, the students enjoyed a fun and creative fingerprint painting activity. They explored different colors by dipping their fingers into the paint and creating colorful prints on white paper. Afterward, they added glitter to make their artwork sparkle and shine.
The students had a wonderful time exploring colors, expressing their creativity, and creating their own unique artwork!
Library
During our library session, we read "The Things I Like About Playtime", a lovely story about the different games and activities the character enjoys during playtime. Inspired by the story, we discussed our own favorite games, things we enjoy playing with, and whether we like to play with friends, family, or by ourselves.
The students eagerly shared their ideas and talked about their favorite games and people to play with, making it a fun and communicative learning experience. Afterwards, they enjoyed exploring books independently and with their friends.
To finish the session, the students brought their library folders and chose a book to take home. It was a wonderful time filled with sharing and literary explorations.
Science
During our science activity, the students had a wonderful opportunity to explore and compare different textures. We provided a variety of natural and everyday materials, including cotton, rocks, wood, and different types of grass.
The materials were placed on the floor, and the children explored them using both their hands and feet. We encouraged them to describe what they could feel and compare the different textures. The students excitedly shared their observations, saying, “this one is hard,” “this one is soft,” and “this one is rough.”
It was a fun, hands-on learning experience that encouraged the children to use their senses, build new vocabulary, and share their ideas. Everyone did an amazing job exploring and discovering!
