Highlights from Our Creative Learning
Dear parents, here are highlights from our recent activities. Thank you for reading our blogs and for your continued support. Together, we can help our children learn, grow, and enjoy every experience.
Large Group
Our large-group time began with the “Good Morning” song, giving the children an opportunity to practice greeting one another.
Next, we sang the weather song and looked outside to observe the conditions. Using pictures of sunny, cloudy, and rainy weather, the children took turns moving an arrow to the matching image.
We then sang the days-of-the-week song and identified the day. With a teacher’s help, the children took turns moving the arrow to the correct day. We also reviewed and counted the attendance pictures completed during free-choice time. During story time, we read Biscuit Loves the Library and discussed libraries and important library rules. These activities encouraged conversation and communication, and we were pleased to see the children growing more confident in expressing their ideas.
Small Group
Monday – Gymnastics
For gymnastics, we created a classroom obstacle course with six chairs and hula hoops arranged on opposite sides. The children practiced stepping through the hoops and moving along the course. This fun challenge strengthened gross motor skills, balance, coordination, body control, and spatial awareness. As they repeated the course, they built confidence and enjoyed each stage
Tuesday – Literacy
For Tuesday’s literacy activity, the children explored loose parts such as rocks, small sponge pieces, and other safe objects. Using tongs, they carefully moved the materials from one place to another. The activity kept them engaged and eager to explore. Although some needed practice at first, they persisted and became more comfortable. This hands-on experience strengthened fine motor skills, hand strength, hand-eye
coordination, and concentration. It also helped the children follow simple instructions and handle materials responsibly. We were pleased with their interest and participation throughout the activity.
Work Time
Tuesday – Art
For Tuesday’s art activity, the children gathered materials from different areas using paper plates, then used the items as stamps on paper. They enthusiastically explored the materials and participated well. The activity encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and new ways of using everyday objects. Afterwards, we stored the materials so they could be reused.
Thursday – Science
The children enjoyed a fun, messy science activity exploring goop. They touched, squeezed, pressed, and mixed it with their hands, noticing how its texture changed as they moved and handled it. The children remained curious and engaged throughout this hands-on experience. It helped them explore texture, consistency, and cause and effect while developing sensory awareness, fine motor skills, observation, and curiosity.
Thursday – Library
Our library session was a lovely time for exploring and enjoying books. Some of the children brought their library folders from home, while others did not. We encouraged the children to read their library books together with their parents at home.
It was wonderful to see that some children remembered and identified the books they had previously taken home. When we invited them to choose a book to take home, they proudly showed us the books they recognized. This showed their growing interest in books and their connection between home and school reading.
