Large Group-Starting Our Day Together

After clean-up, we gathered together in a circle to begin our Large Group time. We started by greeting everyone and practicing how to respond when someone says, “Good morning!” We then talked about our morning routines by asking questions such as, “What did you eat this morning?” and “What did you do before coming to school?” After sharing our ideas, we sang our Good Morning songs and enjoyed reading our Large Group book together. We finished our time with another fun song before moving on to our next activity.

Small Group Experiences

Monday – Gymnastics

We started our week with a fun gymnastics and movement experience. The children practiced walking across the balance beam. At first, it was a little challenging for some of the children to keep their balance, so we encouraged and supported them as they practiced. After trying it a few times, they became more comfortable and confident. This activity supported their balance, coordination, gross motor skills, and confidence.

Wednesday – Music

During Music, the children explored different musical instruments. We introduced and named the instruments before giving the children the opportunity to choose an instrument and explore how it works. We played different songs while the children danced, moved their bodies, and experimented with the sounds they could make. This gave them an opportunity to express themselves through music and movement.

Thursday – Art

During Art, the children were given paper and crayons and invited to draw whatever they wanted. They had the freedom to use their imagination and express their ideas through drawing. After completing their artwork, we encouraged each child to tell us about their picture and share what they had created.

Friday- Math

We explored color recognition by sorting different materials and matching them to the correct colored paper. This helped us identify the children’s current knowledge of colors while developing their matching and observation skills.

Special Work Times

Thursday- Library – Choosing Stories to Take Home

Every Thursday, we enjoy our Library time together. We gathered in a circle and listened to a story chosen by the children. After reading, each child had the opportunity to choose a book to take home and enjoy with their family.
