Dear Parents,
We are excited to share our weekly highlights with you! This week was filled with fun, hands-on learning experiences, exciting discoveries, and joyful moments with our students. We invite you to read about the wonderful activities your children participated in throughout the week. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s learning journey!
Large group
Our large group sessions this week were filled with bonding moments and insights! We sat together in a big circle and started our day by singing our Good Morning song. Everyone had a chance to share about their morning, breakfast choices, and interests with their friends. Next, we reviewed our Zoo-phonics letters together by practicing the letter names, sounds, and actions. During message board time, we discussed the weather, talked about the days of the week, and took attendance together. It was a fun, educational, and enjoyable time for everyone. All the students were engaged, excited, and actively participated throughout the session!
Small group sessions
Science
In our science session, we planted different colors of flowers. Before planting, we discussed the parts of a flower such as the root, stem, leaves, seed, and flower. After that, we talked about the materials we needed for planting. The students said we need a shovel, soil, seeds, and water. After our discussion, we went outside to start the activity. The students took turns digging the soil and planting the flowers carefully. They also watered the flowers together. It was a wonderful hands-on activity, and all students participated very well and enjoyed learning about planting flowers.
Math
In our math session, we played a fun Shape Hopscotch game. First, we reviewed different shapes one by one and counted how many sides each shape has. We focused on square, triangle, circle, and rectangle shapes. After the review, the students started playing the hopscotch game. The teacher called out a shape, and the students listened carefully and jumped on the correct shape. It was an amazing and exciting activity. The students were very active, engaged, and enjoyed learning through movement and play. At the end of the session, we sang the song “We Are Shapes, We Can See Shapes Everywhere,” and happily finished our math session together.
Literacy
In our literacy session, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters with their names, sounds, and actions. The students enjoyed reviewing the letters together in a fun and interactive way. After that, we went outside for a hands-on activity. We filled a big basin with water and placed small laminated letter flashcards inside. The students used clothespins to pick out their favorite letters from the water and match them with the big letter flashcards. It was a fun and active learning experience, and all the students enjoyed the activity very much. This activity helped to improve their fine motor skills, focus and attention span, as well as hand-eye coordination.
Library
In our library session, we read a book called Hanna and the Dog Story. The story talked about friendship, sharing, and listening to rules. It was a wonderful reading time, and all the students listened attentively and enjoyed the story very much. After reading the book, the students chose their favorite books with their friends. They looked at the pictures together, talked about what they saw, and carefully turned the pages one by one. It was a fun and meaningful library session that encouraged a love of reading and sharing with friends.
