Dear parents,

We are excited to share highlights from our wonderful week of learning and fun! Please take a moment to read our weekly blog and see the amazing activities, creativity, and learning experiences your children enjoyed throughout the week. Thank you for your continued support!

Large group

In our large group session, we sat together in a big circle and started our day by singing our good morning song. After that, we talked about the art auction and asked the students to share which artwork was their favorite. Everyone had a chance to talk about their interests and favorite creations.

Next, we reviewed our Zoo phonics letters together, practicing the letter names, sounds, and actions. We also read a short story about a giraffe. The story taught us about what giraffes like to eat, their long necks, and the name of a baby giraffe. The students were very happy and excited during story time. During our message board time, we discussed the weather, talked about the days of the week, and took attendance together. We also learned about the parts of a flower, especially the roots, stem, leaves, and flower.  It was a fun, educational, and enjoyable time for everyone, and all the students were engaged and excited throughout the session!

Small group sessions

Art

In our art session, we worked on our 8th canvas project. One of our students shared the idea, “I want to make a blue giraffe,” and everyone happily agreed. We then discussed what kind of giraffe the students wanted to create, and many chose colorful giraffes in blue, pink, yellow, and red. First, we prepared the canvas and paints. We drew the giraffe shape on the canvas, and the students carefully painted their giraffes using their favorite colors.

After painting, they added brown spots to the giraffe by using their fingerprints, which made the activity extra fun and creative. Finally, the students glued eyes onto their giraffes to complete their beautiful artwork. It was a wonderful and exciting art experience, and all the students enjoyed expressing their creativity together!

Science

In our science session, we learned about the different parts of a flower, such as the roots, leaves, stem, and flower. We drew a flower and discussed each part carefully. After our discussion, the students took turns naming the parts of the flower one by one. Then, we went to the garden to see real flowers. The students were very excited to point out the different parts of the flower they had learned about in class. They also enjoyed smelling the flowers and exploring nature closely. We asked the students if they would like to plant flowers at school, and everyone happily agreed. It was a wonderful and exciting learning experience. All the students were engaged, curious, and happy throughout the session!

Math

In our math session, we reviewed different shapes such as circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, ovals, stars, diamonds, and hearts. We discussed how many sides each shape has and talked about their different features. After that, each student chose their favorite shape and counted the sides carefully. The activity went very well, and the students were excited and engaged throughout the session. Everyone participated wonderfully and showed great interest in learning about shapes. To end our session, we sang shape songs together and had a great time learning and having fun!

Literacy

In our literacy session, the students enjoyed a fun beginning sound matching activity. We started by sitting together and reviewing all the Zoo phonics letters, including their names, sounds, and actions. After our review, the letters were placed on the mat, and the students explored a box filled with different items. Each student selected an item and matched it to the correct beginning sound letter. This week, we focused on matching letters from N to Z. The students were excited, engaged, and actively participated throughout the activity. They did an amazing job identifying beginning sounds and correctly matching the objects to the letters. To finish our session, we all sang the Zoo phonics letter song together. It was a fun, educational, and enjoyable learning experience for everyone!
