Little Learners, Big Discoveries!
Dear Parents,
We are excited to share some highlights from our week! Our children had a wonderful time learning, exploring, communicating, and expressing their creativity through different activities.
Large Group
We began our Large Group by making a big circle and sitting together. We talked about our morning routines, what we did over the weekend, and what we had for breakfast. After sharing our ideas, we sang our cheerful Good Morning Song together. We then practiced Zoo-Phonics letters A–Z, including their sounds and motions. After that, we read Bedtime Zoe. The children listened attentively and shared their own bedtime routines, making it a wonderful opportunity to develop their speaking and listening skills.
We also discussed the weather, took attendance, and reviewed the days of the week. Large Group helps us begin our day smoothly while building confidence, communication, listening, and turn-taking skills.
Small Group Activities
Math
In our Math session, the children practiced counting using different objects from the classroom. Each child chose items that interested them and counted how many they had. They practiced counting from 1 to 13 and proudly shared their numbers with the group. To make the activity even more enjoyable, we sang “How Many Fingers on One Hand?” The children were very engaged and excited to participate.
Library
During our Library session, we read Bedtime Zoe, which follows Zoe through her bedtime routine, from cleaning up to getting ready for bed. The children listened carefully, looked closely at the pictures, and shared their thoughts and ideas about the story. After reading, each child had the opportunity to choose a book and explore it independently or with friends. They practiced turning pages, looking at pictures, and talking about what they noticed. We also talked about being gentle and caring with our books.
Science
We revisited our Sink and Float experiment to help the children strengthen their understanding of the concept. We provided different materials, including blocks, metal spoons and forks, rocks, leaves, pom-poms, and cotton. The children chose the objects they were interested in and placed them into the water. They observed what happened and identified which objects floated and which sank. The children were excited to make predictions, observe the results, and share their ideas. It was a fun and engaging hands-on science experience!
Art
For our Art activity, the children created beautiful flowers using rubber bands and paint. They chose their favorite colors, dipped the rubber bands into paint, and pressed them onto paper to create flower shapes. Each child created a unique flower using different colors and designs. To add an extra sparkle, they also decorated their artwork with glitter. The children enjoyed the process and confidently shared their creativity with their teachers and friends.
