Dear Parents,
We kindly invite you to take a moment to read our weekly plan and highlights. It has been a joyful and engaging week full of learning, exploration, and fun activities. We are so proud of the children’s participation and enthusiasm in every session!
Large Group
During our large group session, we began by sitting together in a big circle and sharing about our morning. The students enjoyed expressing their thoughts and listening to their friends. We then happily sang our Good Morning song, followed by reading the story Hooray for Books, which the students really loved. They listened very attentively and showed great interest in the story. We also reviewed our Zoo-phonics letters from A to Z, took attendance, and discussed the weather and the days of the week. It was wonderful to see the students confidently sharing their ideas and participating throughout the session.
Small Group Sessions
Science
This week in our science session, we explored the topic of weather, focusing on sunny days. The students shared their ideas about the color of the sun; some said yellow, others said orange, and talked about what clothes we wear in sunny weather, such as T-shirts, shorts, and sandals. They also excitedly shared their favorite activities to do in the sun. We were so happy to hear their wonderful thoughts and ideas! Nathan shared, “I like to play at the beach in sunny time,” Haven said, “the sun is yellow color,” and Rufta told us, “I play in sunny weather”.
We also learned about shadows and discussed how light helps us see our shadows. After our discussion, we went outside to explore. The students tried to look at the sun, but we explained that it is not safe to look directly at it. Instead, we used eclipse glasses to safely observe the sun. The children were very excited to see the sun and also enjoyed observing their own shadows. It was a great learning experience, and all the students were attentive and engaged throughout the session!
Math
In our most recent math session, we explored different shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, ovals, hearts, diamonds, and stars. The students learned to identify each shape and talked about how many sides they have. We also sang a fun shape song, which helped the children remember and recognize the shapes more easily. After that, we had an exciting outdoor activity where shapes were hidden around the playground. The students went on a shape hunt, searching carefully and then sharing what shape they found. They were very excited to identify and name their shapes. It was a wonderful and engaging session, and the students really enjoyed learning through play!
Library
In our library session, we read the story Hooray for Books. The students really enjoyed the story and loved looking at the colorful pictures. They stayed focused and listened very attentively throughout the reading time. After the story, the children had the chance to explore different books. They carefully chose their favorites, looked through the pages, and practiced turning them gently. At the end of the session, each student selected a special book to take home and read with their families. It was a wonderful and calm time that helped build their love for books and reading!
Football Fun
In our gymnastics session, the students excitedly changed into their jerseys and got ready for football. We began with a warm-up, doing simple physical exercises to prepare our bodies. Before starting the game, we reminded the students about the basic football rules. Then, the first team began playing, and it went very well! Their friends cheered them on, calling out names and showing great team spirit. After that, the second team had their turn and enjoyed the game just as much. We also made sure to take a water break so the students could stay hydrated. At the end of the session, every student received a medal, and we took both individual and group pictures to celebrate their effort and participation.
