What have we been up to this week?

● Cooperative game

● Literacy

● Science

● Math

Cooperative game

Bowling was our cooperative game for this week. Bowling helps our children to develop crucial hand-eye coordination and depth perception. It can also help kids practice their math skills through scorekeeping. Even with automated counting, kids still end up counting pins and judging angles to figure out the best move. The children were excited to have this game. While playing the game some of them knocked it all and the others miss it. This was such a good activity to try the best move to score.

Literacy

Alphabetic principle is the idea that letters, and groups of letters, match individual sounds in words. The ability to apply these predictable relationships to familiar and unfamiliar words is crucial to reading. Based on this, we worked to identify the letters and find familiar words that starts with the beginning letters on our literacy class. We revise the letters that we have learnt before and introduce letter sound Kk. The children come up with lots of new words that they know.

"Is it K for carrot?"

"K for kangaroo this animal has a pocket in his tummy."

"k is for kiss"

Science

Gardening is a healthy, fun activity for children. They develop new skills and learn about science and nature from growing their own food. This was an interesting activity for our children in our science class they involved in, such as weeding, digging, and planting. We were having such an interesting discussion about gardening, and we were reading a book titled “Anywhere farm" from our library that guide us to plant our seeds probably. Thus, we turn on a music "The green grass goes around " that teaches us more about planting too. We were choosing veggies to plant in our garden. so, we choose Tomatoes, carrots, cabbage. After planting we plan to water our plants every in the morning to see it grown up and to have some from our veggies.

Makerspace

Working in group requires children to cooperate with their peers to not only construct collaborative projects but to also share and take turns with the tools and resources. This process develops social skills as they work together to achieve shared goals and learn to negotiate the space and the resources. Our Maker Space class help to create a strong classroom community.

On our previous classes we were planning to make a big Robot as a team. We start up our project by painting cartoon for our robot. After this we let it dry up. On the other day we continue to build the robot. We choose the small box for the head, and we put led for the eye and nose and we choose the big led for the mouth. Thus, we look for something that we can make for the neck part, so we come up with a tissue roll so we glue it on the head part and some pipe cleaner for the antenna. And put all together with the tummy part and with the leg, the hand. Finally, our Big Robot come to life. Here after we were discussing to give a name for out Robot.

List of names for the Robot

"Let call it Och!”

"Oreo"

"Cookie table"

"Aba"

"Jim"

After that we discussed to call our robot "Jim". We make our robot visible in our playground to let our school friends to look at and enjoy. We like our robot that we made as a team hope other likes it too.

Art

On our art class we were having somehow different way of painting. We explored with pendulum to make our artwork.

A pendulum is a fixed object hung from a point so it can swing freely back and forth by pushing it. So, we choose different paint that we want and put it on a cup and hung it on the pendulum. Then we put the canvas on the floor and start to swing the cup back and forth then all the paints splash and make some abstractions even we observed some color patterns. That was a fantastic, it was a bit messy, but we all loved it.

Math

Patterns help children make predictions because they begin to understand what comes next. They also help children learn how to make logical connections and use reasoning skills. Patterns can be found everywhere in our daily lives, so we start to point it out for our children in our math class.

We give them chance to choose anything from the given materials to make their own ABC patterns. Here are some material’s that we provide. (Blocks, woods, and plastic toys and many more). Then they come up with such a predictable pattern we all got amazed. This shows that they have a good ability to make patterns easily. Even after we finish our class, we have observed they were practicing the lesson in the playground too.
