Dear Parents,
How was your week? We had an amazing time in preschool full of sorting, counting, and creative learning! Enjoy reading our weekly highlights below and see all the wonderful things your children explored and achieved.
Large Group
In our large group sessions, we always start our day by singing a cheerful “Good Morning” song, which brings lots of smiles and energy to the room! After our song, we enjoyed reading “ A Day at the Beach”, a lovely book that the students really liked. Then we explored our Zoophonics letters, practicing their sounds together. We also had a great discussion about the weather and the days of the week, helping everyone learn and share their observations. Next, we took attendance and moved on to our message board activity, where we practiced counting numbers from 1 to 10. The students participated enthusiastically in every part of the session. Large group sessions this week were wonderful mornings filled with active learning and teamwork!
Small Group
Math
In our math session, we practiced counting numbers from 1 to 10 in a fun and hands-on way. Each student chose their favorite number flash card and then counted out the correct number of pom poms and small bear toys to match it. This activity helped students connect numbers with real objects, making counting more meaningful and enjoyable. Everyone was excited to participate, and it was wonderful to see how well they understood the concept of counting. Great job, mathematicians!
Art
In our recent art session, students explored their creativity through making a yarn collage. Each student chose their favorite yarn colors, cut them into small pieces, and mixed them with glue. Then, they used the yarn to create unique designs on their favorite paper. It was a wonderful time filled with creativity and fun! Every student made a different and beautiful art piece, showing their own style and imagination.
Science
In our science session, we discussed the concept of nutrition by delving into healthy and unhealthy foods. The students shared their ideas and said that eating healthy food helps us grow strong, while eating unhealthy food every day can make us sick. It was wonderful to hear their thoughtful answers! After our discussion, we played a fun sorting game. We mixed healthy and unhealthy food toys together, and the students worked to separate them into the right groups. Everyone enjoyed the activity and learned a lot about making healthy choices!
Literacy
In this week’s literacy session, students worked in their journals. First, they planned what they wanted to draw, then we gave them their journal books and favorite crayons. Afterward, we asked if they followed their plan or changed their ideas. Most students followed their plan, while some came up with new and creative ideas. We truly encourage our students to express themselves through drawing and enjoy the process of creating!
Library
In our library session, we read a wonderful book called “A Day at the Beach”. The story is about Starla, who can count from 1 to 20 and counts different things she sees on the beach. The students enjoyed counting along with the book—it was a fun way to practice their numbers! After reading, the students chose their favorite books and spent time looking through them independently. It was a great and relaxing library time filled with learning and joy!
