Happy Birthday Mardini and Noah
Dear Parents,
We hope you are doing well. We are excited to share this week’s classroom blog with you, highlighting the fun and meaningful activities your children enjoyed in our Early Preschool classroom. It was a week full of learning, movement, creativity, and joyful moments together.
We invite you to enjoy reading about what we explored this week and the wonderful experiences your little ones shared with their friends. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another great week ahead!
Large Group
Our large group time in the Early Preschool classroom is always a wonderful opportunity for connection, communication, and learning. We began each large group session by greeting one another, helping the children feel welcomed and ready to start the day together.
After greetings, we asked different questions each day to encourage conversation and language development. On Monday, we talked about the weather and the colors the children were wearing. On Tuesday, we asked questions about their morning, such as what they did before coming to school. On Wednesday, we explored personal favorites, like favorite colors or favorite foods. These daily discussions helped build confidence, listening skills, and communication among the children.
Following our conversations, we sang a cheerful good morning song, which brought smiles to everyone’s faces. We then talked about the weather again, and one student was chosen to pick the picture that matched the weather of the day and place it on the board. This helped the children practice observation skills and daily routines.
This week’s focus shape was the triangle, so we placed a triangle on the board and asked the children what they saw and which shape it was. The children were excited to identify the shape and proudly shared their answers.
Before taking attendance, we asked the children who were missing that day. They looked around, called out their friends’ names, and showed great awareness of their classmates. After attendance, we enjoyed reading the book I’m Ready to Dress Up. The story was very engaging and dramatic, and the children were excited to see how the characters dressed themselves. This book supported independence skills, such as putting on shoes and jackets by themselves.
We also practiced counting together by counting pictures on the board or counting the students in the classroom. To end our large group time, we played music, took a short water break, and finished with high fives, leaving everyone happy and energized.
Gymnastics Activity- Jumping on Shapes
Our gymnastics session in the Early Preschool classroom was full of energy, movement, and excitement. For this activity, we placed different shapes on the floor, including a triangle, circle, and square, creating a fun and inviting movement space for the children.
The children were encouraged to listen carefully as each shape was named and then jump onto the correct shape. They were very engaged and eager to participate, showing great enthusiasm as they took turns jumping, moving, and exploring. This activity not only helped strengthen their gross motor skills, balance, and coordination, but also supported their shape recognition, listening skills, and ability to follow simple instructions.
Throughout the session, the children showed confidence and joy as they jumped from one shape to another. It was wonderful to see them cheering for their friends, waiting for their turn, and celebrating each small success together. The activity created a positive and supportive environment where learning and movement came together naturally.
This gymnastics activity was an amazing experience filled with laughter, learning, and active play. The children truly enjoyed every second of it!
Literacy Activity – Tracing Shapes with playdough
This week, we enjoyed a hands-on literacy activity using Playdough and shapes. The children were invited to choose their own Playdough which immediately sparked excitement and interest. As they selected their Playdough, we asked them to name the color they chose, encouraging language development and color recognition.
For this activity, some students were given a triangle shape to trace using Playdough, while other students were provided with materials that included different shapes such as a triangle, circle, and square. The class was divided into two groups: one group focused on matching the shapes, and the other group worked on tracing the triangle with Playdough.
As the children rolled, pressed, and shaped the Playdough along the edges of the triangle, they strengthened their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Throughout the activity, we continuously asked questions about the triangle, such as its name and shape, helping reinforce shape recognition and early literacy skills.
The children were highly engaged and showed great focus as they explored the materials. This activity supported learning through play and allowed each child to participate at their own level. It was a meaningful and enjoyable literacy experience that combined sensory play, shape awareness, and language development.
Creative Art Activity – Blowing with a Straw
In our Early Preschool classroom, we explored a fun and exciting creative art activity using straws and paint. For this activity, two students participated at a time, taking turns so everyone had a chance to observe and enjoy the process. We provided different paint colors, and the children were invited to choose the color they liked most.
After selecting their colors, we carefully placed small dots of paint onto the paper, adding them one by one. The children were then introduced to a new and exciting technique, blowing the paint using a straw. This was a new experience for many of our students, and at first, it was a bit challenging. However, they were eager to try and showed great determination as they practiced blowing through the straw.
This activity helped the children strengthen their oral motor skills as they learned to control their breath. It was wonderful to see them pushing their breath and focusing carefully on how the paint moved across the paper. The children were highly engaged and very excited to watch what happened when they blew the paint in different directions.
They were especially thrilled to see their final results and amazed by how the colors spread and mixed. The excitement, curiosity, and joy on their faces made this activity truly special. Overall, it was an amazing learning experience filled with creativity, exploration, and fun.
Library
Our library session was an amazing, calm learning experience for our Early Preschool students. During this time, the teacher carefully chose a book and read it aloud to the children. The students listened with great interest and excitement as they looked closely at the pictures and followed along with the story.
After reading, we talked together about the book. The children shared what they noticed and pointed to pictures they recognized. It was wonderful to see them beginning to use simple words they saw in the pictures, expressing their ideas in short and meaningful ways. This helped support their early language and literacy development.
We also noticed a big improvement in how the children are handling books. They are learning to use books carefully, turning pages gently and showing respect for the materials. This is an important step in building a love for reading and responsibility.
Our library session was full of learning, conversation, and growing confidence. The children enjoyed the experience and are developing positive habits and early literacy skills through these shared reading moments.
Science
During our science session, the children enjoyed a fun and hands-on activity: painting rice with different colors. The children observed plain rice and then watched with excitement as colors were added and mixed. They explored how the rice changed color and texture while gently mixing and spreading it. This activity supported the children’s sensory development as they touched, poured, and painted the rice. It also helped build color recognition, fine motor skills, and focus. The children were curious, engaged, and happy to see the beautiful results of their work.
It was a joyful learning experience that encouraged exploration, creativity, and early science skills in a playful way
Math
During our math activity, the children explored basic shapes in a fun and interactive way. We began by drawing different shapes: triangle, square, and circle, on paper. The children carefully observed each shape and talked about their names and features.
Next, we introduced magnets and invited the children to match the magnets to the correct shapes on the paper. This hands-on activity was very exciting and engaging for them. As they matched the magnets, the children practiced shape recognition, hand-eye coordination, and focus. They also learned to follow simple instructions and take turns with their friends. This activity encouraged problem-solving and early math skills while making learning enjoyable and playful. The children showed great interest and confidence as they successfully matched each shape. It was truly a fun and meaningful learning experience for everyone!
