Dear parents,

We hope you had a joyful week. Our Early Pre-K classroom was full of excitement, curiosity, and meaningful learning experiences. The children engaged in a variety of activities across math, literacy, art, and gymnastics, each thoughtfully designed to support their growth and development. Through hands-on exploration, our students strengthened their cognitive skills, fine motor abilities, communication, and problem-solving.

Keep reading to learn more about the special moments that shaped your child’s week!

Large Group

During our large group sessions this week, the children were introduced to the color gray. They identified the color through pictures, classroom objects, and hands-on exploration. We also revisited Zoo-phonics, where the children practiced identifying letters and their beginning sounds using movement, sounds, and visual cues.

During our morning message, the children practiced counting from 1 to 10 and recognized different numbers. In another activity, we went on a classroom “Color Hunt” to find objects that were gray. The children were excited and curious as they searched around the room, sharing their discoveries with friends.

Math

This week in math, the children explored ABC patterns using pencils, counting bears, and Unifix cubes. First, we reviewed how patterns repeat, and then the children practiced copying and extending simple sequences before creating their own. As they worked, they observed closely, compared objects, and checked their patterns to make sure the order continued correctly.

The activity encouraged the children to use mathematical vocabulary such as repeat, next, and same, while helping them strengthen logical thinking, fine motor skills, and concentration. It was wonderful watching them confidently arrange materials, notice patterns in their environment, and proudly share their creations with classmates.

Science

This week's science exploration was all about curiosity and discovery! The children went outside to explore the school compound using their eyes and ears, observing the world around them with great excitement. They eagerly noticed the bright colors of flowers, the movement of leaves in the wind, birds flying in the sky. With their listening ears, they tuned in to the sounds of cars passing by outside the compound, and rustling leaves.

As they observed, the children reflected on what they saw and heard, sharing their thoughts through conversations. It was wonderful to see how each child expressed their unique observations and experiences. This activity helped the children strengthen their awareness, observation, and communication skills while deepening their connection with the natural environment around them. We are so proud of our scientists!

Literacy

During this week’s literacy session, the children were excited to use their very own prepared journals to draw what they have imagined in their minds. With crayons in hand, they freely expressed their thoughts, feelings, and inspirations through drawings. Some illustrated their families, favorite toys, or nature scenes, while others filled their pages with colorful patterns and shapes.

This open-ended activity encouraged creativity and self-expression while helping the children strengthen their fine motor and pre-writing skills. It was wonderful to see how confidently they took ownership of their journals, turning each page into a reflection of their unique ideas and growing literacy journey.

Art

In this week’s art session, the children enjoyed creating their very own body collages! Each child carefully cut out different body parts from an A4-size paper- including head, arms, legs, hands, and feet. Then, it was time for assembly! This hands-on activity was both creative and meaningful, as it helped the children recall what they had learned in science about the topic “All About Me.”

Through cutting, gluing, and arranging each piece, the children strengthened their fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and understanding of body parts and their functions. The session beautifully combined art and science, encouraging creativity while reinforcing important body awareness concepts.
