Dear parents,

We hope your week has been just as wonderful as ours! Our learners in Early Pre-K had an exhilarating week bursting with creativity, hands-on exploration, and new discoveries. Whether diving into science, unleashing their artistic talents, or tumbling through gymnastics, every adventure fueled their curiosity while building essential skills. Keep reading to relive the magical moments that made your child’s week unforgettable!

Large Group

This week’s large group sessions were full of energy and learning! We explored the letter "i"—its sound and fun new words that start with it. During morning messages, the children loved searching the classroom for letter i making our routine interactive and fun.

In math, we introduced the number 11 practicing counting with eleven little fingers in the air with their friends! These activities nurtured their critical thinking, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills, all while making math engaging and fun. It was a week of growth, curiosity, and endless smiles!

Science

We are thrilled to share with you the exciting science session that took place in our class this week, where the children had the opportunity to learn about healthy and unhealthy foods through a fun and interactive activity using flashcards. The activity began with an introduction to the importance of making healthy food choices. The children were engaged in a discussion about the different types of foods they eat and how these foods can impact their health and well-being.

To bring this lesson to life, the children were provided with a set of colorful flashcards depicting various foods, ranging from fruits and vegetables to sugary snacks and fast food. The task was simple yet effective: the children had to sort the flashcards into two categories - healthy and unhealthy. This hands-on activity not only allowed the children to apply their knowledge of nutrition but also encouraged critical thinking and decision-making skills. Through this fun and engaging activity, the children gained a better understanding of the importance of making healthy food choices and the impact these choices can have on their overall health.

Literacy

This week, we held a literacy session where children were encouraged to showcase their creativity through drawing in their journals. The children were given a prompt to draw a scene from their favorite story or to create their own imaginative world through their drawings. The room buzzed with excitement as the children eagerly picked up their pencils and started sketching away. As the children drew, they were encouraged to think about the details in their drawings and how they could convey their ideas through their art. Some children chose to draw elaborate landscapes filled with magical creatures, while others focused on expressing emotions and feelings through their drawings. The creativity and imagination of the children were truly remarkable!

Once the drawings were completed, the children were given a chance to share their work with their classmates and explain the story behind their drawings. It was amazing to see the children confidently speaking about their drawings and sharing their creative process with their peers. The room was filled with laughter and applause as each child took their turn to showcase their masterpiece. Overall, the literacy session was a resounding success, with the children showcasing their creativity and developing their literacy skills in a fun and interactive way.

Art

This week in art, our young artists embarked on an imaginative journey as they created their very own fire truck artwork on canvas. It was truly a sight to behold! The art session began with each child envisioning their own unique version of a fire truck. With colorful paints, brushes, and an empty canvas in front of them, the children eagerly set to work bringing their imagination to life. Some chose to paint traditional red fire trucks with flashing lights and sirens, while others added their own twists by incorporating rainbow colors.

As the session progressed, we witnessed the sheer joy and excitement on the faces of the children as they saw their creations come to life. By the end of the session, the children proudly presented their completed fire truck artworks. The diversity of styles and interpretations was truly inspiring, showcasing the endless possibilities when it comes to creativity.

Gymnastics

This week’s gymnastics session was an utter delight! The children had a wonderful time with a new activity- jumping over pillows and passing under chairs! At our gymnastics class, we always strive to make learning new skills fun and engaging, and this session was no exception. The children started off the session by warming up their bodies with some stretching exercises and practicing basic gymnastics moves. Once they were warmed up, it was time for the main event - jumping over pillows! We set up a row of soft pillows on the floor, and the children took turns leaping over them with big smiles on their faces. It was a great way to work on their coordination and balance while having a blast at the same time.

After the jumping over pillows activity, we moved on to the passing under the chair challenge. We set up chairs at varying heights, and the children had to crawl underneath them without touching the chair. This activity not only tested their flexibility and agility but also encouraged teamwork and problem-solving as they figured out the best way to pass under the chairs. Throughout the session, we could see the children's confidence and skills growing as they tackled each activity with enthusiasm and determination. It was heartwarming to witness their excitement and sense of accomplishment as they successfully completed each challenge.
