Dear parents,
We hope this blog finds you well. We had a wonderful two weeks in our Infants and Toddlers class. The children enjoyed all our activities, and we loved seeing their happy faces each day. They are growing, learning, and becoming more confident. We are so proud of their progress and excited for the weeks ahead. Read on for some more details about our past days…
Large Group Time
Our large group time started with singing the hello song. We named all the children while waving our hands and saying “good morning”. After that, the children were given a chance to choose songs. They chose “Baby Shark” and “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, and we sang together happily. Next, we took attendance. The children came to the attendance board, picked their friends’ pictures, and looked around the circle to see who was present. They then placed the pictures on the happy face if their friend was here nd on the sad face if their friend was absent.
We then counted numbers from 1 to 15. First, we counted together as a group, and then the children stood up and counted by themselves. After counting, we read the book “At the Park”. The children were very excited, listened carefully, and repeated some of the words. At the end of large group time, the teddy bear gave everyone a “good job” hug, which made the children very happy.
Library
During our most recent library session, we set up the area outside on the grass. We placed a mat on the ground and added dolls and books. The books were placed in the middle so the children could choose both a doll and a book. The children sat on the mat and began exploring the books with their dolls. They were very excited and engaged. They enjoyed sharing the books and dolls with their friends and showed happiness throughout the session. The outdoor setting made the library time calm, fun, and enjoyable for everyone!
Gymnastics
Gymnastics was hands-on and active with a ball passing activity. We prepared the activity by placing balls in a box and using cups for the children to place the balls into. First, we explained the activity to the children and showed them how to do it. The children then started the activity by choosing their favorite colored ball. They held the ball and placed it into the cup. They were very excited and engaged, and they helped each other throughout the activity. In the first week, we met in the classroom, and in the second week, we met outside. The children were very happy to be outdoors. By the second week, they showed great improvements; they completed the activity faster and with more confidence.
Literacy and Language
During our most recent literacy and language session, we worked on a fine motor skills activity. We prepared playdough, straws, and hair bands. The activity was set up outside, where we first explained and demonstrated how to do it. The children began by sticking the straws into the playdough. Then, they placed the hair bands onto the straws one by one. They were very excited and showed great focus and concentration. The children helped each other during the activity and enjoyed counting how many hair bands they placed on each straw. Fine motor activities like this help students prepare to eventually grasp a pencil, pen, and other writing tools.
Art
This week in art, our creative class got busy with a wheel painting activity! First, we prepared the activity outside and placed all the materials on the table. We explained to the children the materials and showed them how to dip the toy car into the paint. Then, the children chose their favorite toy car and the paint colors they liked. They dipped the car wheels into the paint and rolled the cars on the paper to create patterns. The children were very excited and focused, and they enjoyed exploring colors.
Science
During our science activity, we introduced body parts using music and pictures. First, we sang “One Little Finger” and “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”. Then, we talked about different body parts and their names. After that, we showed the children pictures of body parts. The children were excited to identify the body parts in the pictures, and they also pointed to and showed the same body parts on themselves. The activity was fun and engaging.
Math
During our math session, we did a shape matching activity. First we placed the shapes in front of the children and gave them time to explore. Then we showed them how to match the shapes correctly. After that the children started matching the shapes on their own and they also helped each other. The children were focused and engaged and the activity supported their early math and social skills.
