Dear Parents,
Welcome back! We are very happy to see our students and families return to the Infants and Toddlers class. The children were so excited to come back; they walked in with big smiles and lots of energy. We also had an amazing two weeks together, exploring our classroom and the different learning areas. The students enjoyed every moment, and it was a wonderful start to our second semester of the year.
Large group
During our large group time, the children were very engaged and joyful. We began our session with some light exercise to warm up our bodies. After that, everyone sat together in a big circle. We started with a ball passing activity, which the whole class loved. Then we sang our Good Morning song, waved our hands, and greeted each friend by calling each student’s name.
Next, we took attendance. Each child took their picture and placed it underneath the happy face with enthusiasm and pride. After that, the students chose The Wheels on the Bus and Baa Baa Black Sheep to sing. We sang together, and the children followed the directions beautifully. They were very excited to be back. We continued by counting numbers from 1 to 15. The children counted one at a time, showing great determination and persistence. After counting, we read a storybook. The children listened attentively and enjoyed the story. At the end, they gave a big hug to each friend! It was a wonderful time full of joy, participation, and learning.
Gymnastic
During our gymnastics activity, our students had a blast working on various stretches. We prepared the square mats and the grass area, giving one mat for each child. The students stood on their individual mats while the teacher stood in front to demonstrate the stretching movements. As the teacher showed each step, the children followed along happily and performed the exercises very well. They enjoyed copying the movements and showed great focus. At the end of the session, we turned on some music, and the children danced with big smiles!
Language and Literacy
During our literacy session, the children worked on a fun and meaningful picture puzzle activity. We prepared puzzles by cutting each child’s photo into small pieces. The students searched for their own picture pieces and carefully put them back together. They were very happy and focused while fixing their puzzles. Once they completed their picture, they proudly called out their own names with big smiles. The children were very excited and enjoyed the activity, which supported both literacy and self-identification skills.
Art
During our first art class of the week, we introduced a creative body part collage activity. We began by printing out different body parts such as eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. After cutting the pieces, we gave each child a face shape to start with. The children applied glue carefully and began sticking the body part pieces onto their paper. They were thrilled to create their own collages. The students placed the parts thoughtfully and stuck them very well. It was a joyful and hands-on activity that supported creativity, fine motor skills, and body awareness.
In our second week of art class, we introduced a stamping activity. We prepared the materials by cutting small plastic circles and attaching them to plastic cups to create easy-to-hold stampers. We also set out different colors of paint for the children to choose from. The students selected their favorite color, dipped the cup stamper into the paint, and then stamped beautiful patterns onto their papers. They enjoyed exploring the colors and making their own designs. It was an exciting and creative activity, and the children were very happy and engaged throughout.
Science
During our science activity, the class continued learning about body parts. We prepared the materials by printing out different body part pictures and wrapping them inside pieces of magazine paper. Each child picked one wrapped item, opened it, and discovered which body part was inside. Some of our friends named the body part they found, while others showed it by pointing to the same part on their own bodies. The children participated actively, shared their answers confidently, and showed great concentration. It was a fun and engaging way to help them identify and learn about different body parts.
Math
During my session, the children worked on a fun and interactive shape-matching activity. We prepared three different shapes: triangle, circle, and square, by cutting them out and placing them on the floor. Then we gave the children various materials in those same shapes. The students walked around, looked carefully at each shape, and matched their materials to the correct shape on the floor. They were very focused, excited, and enjoyed identifying and matching each shape. It was a great activity for building early math skills, observation, and recognition.
