Dear Parents,
How are you? We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and winter break with your families. We also had an amazing break and are very happy to begin the second semester. We are excited to welcome everyone back and look forward to a wonderful semester together with you and your children. This week, we enjoyed many different activities and learning experiences with ourstudents. Please take some time to read and enjoy our blog to see what your children have been learning and doing in class. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
This is a friendly reminder that Monday (January 19, 2026) school will be closed for the Timket holiday. Happy Timket to those who celebrate! We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday.
Large Group
We started our large group time by making a big circle and sitting down together. We asked the students about their morning and their breakfast choices. After that, we sang our Good Morning song and read a book called Clifford’s First Day of School. Next, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters from A to Z. We then talked about the weather, the days of the week, and took attendance. At the message board, the students practiced matching numbers from 1 to 5. This activity helped improve their fine motor skills, focus, and number identification. It was a great time, and the students participated very well throughout the session.
Small Group
Math
In our recent math session, we made learning fun and meaningful by combining math with colors and hands-on activities. We started the lesson by asking our students a simple question: “What is your favorite color?” This immediately captured their interest and encouraged everyone to participate. After sharing their favorite colors, the students began sorting pom-poms and animal toys by color. They carefully selected the items that matched their chosen color and grouped them together. This activity helped the students practice sorting and categorizing while enjoying play-based learning. Once the sorting was complete, the students counted how many items they had collected. They proudly shared their numbers with their friends and the teacher, building both confidence and early math skills. The classroom was full of excitement, and the students were very engaged and happy throughout the session. It was truly a fun, interactive, and joyful math experience for all.
Library
During our library session, we read a book called Clifford’s First Day of School. It was a nice story about a dog and his first day at school. The students really liked the story and enjoyed listening together. After story time, each student chose their favorite book and spent time looking at the pictures. The children were very interested and excited. At the end of the session, every student selected one book to take home and enjoy with their family.
Art
In our art session, the students enjoyed a fun finger-painting activity. First, they chose their favorite paint colors and wore their art smocks. Then, they dipped their index fingers into the paint and gently dropped the paint onto the paper. Some students used only their favorite color, while others explored different colors. To finish their artwork, they added glitter to make it shiny and special. The students were happy, creative, and excited to see their beautiful results.
Gymnastics
In our gymnastics session, the students focused on developing balance and coordination through fun activities. We began the session with stretching and light jogging to warm up our bodies and get ready for movement. This helped the students feel energized and prepared. After the warm-up, the teacher explained how to walk on the balancing board safely. The students were encouraged to stretch out their hands to help keep their balance. One by one, each student took a turn walking on the balancing board, giving everyone a chance to participate. The activity went amazingly well. The students were confident, focused, and excited to try. It was wonderful to see them support one another and enjoy the experience while building important physical skills.
Literacy
In our literacy session, we practiced Zoo-phonics letters A to Z, focusing on each letter’s sound and motion. The students enjoyed moving and making sounds as we reviewed the letters one by one. Some students are still learning and may forget a few letters after joining, while others already recognize most of the letters. Everyone participated and tried their best. It was a great learning experience, and we had a wonderful time reviewing all the letters together.
Cooperative game
This week, our students participated in a cooperative game that focused on sorting beans. We prepared a mixture of beans and kidney beans and gave it to the students to work with. The children carefully sorted the mixed beans and kidney beans and placed each type into their own plates. Throughout the activity, the students showed great focus, patience, and cooperation. They worked calmly and paid close attention to their task. It was a great time for everyone. This hands-on activity helped improve concentration, coordination, and teamwork while making learning fun. We were very proud of how focused and engaged the students were during the cooperative game.
