Dear Parents,
We are excited to share this week’s preschool highlights with you! Our classroom was filled with joyful learning, hands-on exploration, and meaningful discussions. From circle time conversations to creative art and exciting learning games, our students were actively engaged and eager to participate. We are so proud of their enthusiasm, confidence, and teamwork throughout the week!
Large Group
We started our large group sessions by sitting together in a big circle. We had a lovely discussion about our morning routines and what we ate for breakfast. The students were excited to share! We then sang our cheerful Good Morning song to start the day with positive energy. After that, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters from A to Z, and the children did a wonderful job recognizing and saying the sounds. Next, we talked about the weather, reviewed the days of the week, and took attendance together. On the message board, the students practiced counting numbers from 1 to 10. Every student had a chance to come up and count, which helped build their confidence and number skills. It was a joyful and engaging session, and all the students participated very well. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork.
Small Group
Art
This week, our creative students worked on a delightful ice painting activity! We prepared colorful ice cubes using our students’ favorite paint colors. The children were very excited to see how the frozen paint would work on the canvas. We provided a large canvas, and the students took turns creating beautiful artwork using the ice paint. They carefully moved the ice across the canvas and watched the bright colors appear, blend, and mix together. It was amazing to see their curiosity and creativity as they explored this new technique. To make their artwork even more special, the children added glitter for a shiny finishing touch. It was a wonderful and creative experience, and our students did very well. They truly enjoyed this fun and exciting art activity!
Science
In our science session, we learned about healthy and unhealthy foods. We explored different healthy food toys such as carrots, broccoli, potatoes, peppers, eggplant, lettuce, cheese, eggs, apples, oranges, bananas, and grapes. We also talked about unhealthy foods like cake, chocolate, donuts, and ice cream. After our discussion, we mixed all the food toys together and played a sorting game. The students used two plates to separate healthy and unhealthy foods. Everyone participated very well and enjoyed the activity. We also reminded the children that unhealthy foods can be eaten sometimes, but not every day. It was a fruitful and engaging experience.
Math
In our math session, we explored AABB patterns using colorful cubes and counting dinosaurs. Last week, we practiced AB patterns with pompoms and counting bears. First, we reviewed what a pattern is and how it repeats in a certain order. We showed an example of an AABB pattern by arranging two cubes and two dinosaurs. Then, each child created their own pattern using the materials provided. The students were excited and focused as they carefully followed the repeating order. It was wonderful to see them thinking and building their patterns independently!
Literacy
In our literacy session, we practiced matching big Zoo-phonics letters (uppercase) with their corresponding small letters (lowercase). First, we reviewed each letter’s sound and motion. Then, we hid the small letter flashcards in the sandbox. The children had fun digging in the sand to find the letters and matching them to the correct big letters. The students were active, engaged, and happy while learning!
Library
In our library session, the students chose their favorite books from the shelf and found a comfortable place to sit. They enjoyed opening their books, turning the pages, and looking closely at the pictures. The children were excited to share familiar animals, tools, and materials they recognized in their books. The session went very well, and the students were calm, focused, and engaged as they explored and shared their discoveries.
