Dear Parents,

We hope you are all doing well. Here in the Early Preschool class, we have been busily exploring, learning, and growing together. Here is a little update about the wonderful activities and learning experiences the children enjoyed this week in our classroom.

Large Group

Our large group time this week was full of joyful moments, communication, and learning. We started our morning by singing a cheerful good morning song together, which helped everyone feel happy and ready for the day. Then, we asked the children different questions such as what they ate in the morning, what they wore, what they did before coming to school, their favorite color, and their favorite music. This helped them practice speaking, listening, and sharing their ideas with friends.

Next, we talked about who was missing from the classroom. Some children tried to look around and find which friends were not here, while others called out names. It was a great way to build awareness of their classmates and develop social skills. After that, we took attendance together. One student was chosen to help by picking a friend’s picture from the picture grid and finding that friend in the classroom. If the friend was present, they stuck the picture on the happy face board. The children took turns, and they were very excited and engaged in this activity.

After attendance, we sang more songs together and talked about the weather. The children observed the weather outside and chose the correct weather picture to place on the board. We also looked at a triangle on the board and asked the children what shape it was. They tried to identify and name the shape, which helped with their shape recognition and thinking skills.

We then enjoyed reading a book chosen by the children called “Please, Little Bear”. The story helped the children understand sharing and introduced new vocabulary in a fun and meaningful way. The children were very interested and participated by looking at the pictures and listening carefully.

Gymnastics Activity- Jumping on Shapes

Our gymnastics session in the Early Preschool classroom was full of energy, movement, and excitement. For this activity, we placed different shapes on the floor, including a triangle, circle, and square, creating a fun and inviting movement space for the children.

The children were encouraged to listen carefully as each shape was named and then jump onto the correct shape. They were very engaged and eager to participate, showing great enthusiasm as they took turns jumping, moving, and exploring. This activity not only helped strengthen their gross motor skills, balance, and coordination, but also supported their shape recognition, listening skills, and ability to follow simple instructions.

Throughout the session, the children showed confidence and joy as they jumped from one shape to another. It was wonderful to see them cheering for their friends, waiting for their turn, and celebrating each small success together. The activity created a positive and supportive environment where learning and movement came together naturally.

This gymnastics activity was an amazing experience filled with laughter, learning, and active play. The children truly enjoyed every second of it!

Literacy: Shape Lacing

This week, our literacy and fine motor activity focused on shapes and hand coordination. We provided the children with different shape cartons such as squares, triangles, and circles. Each shape had small holes around the edges, and we gave the children shoelaces (or string) to lace through the holes.

Before starting the activity, we asked the children to name the shapes, and they were excited to share what they knew. This helped them practice shape recognition and vocabulary. Then, the children carefully put the shoelaces into the holes, which was a wonderful exercise for developing their fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and concentration.

Some children needed support, so we guided and helped them step by step. They did an amazing job and showed great effort and patience. This activity was not only fun but also very helpful for strengthening their fingers and preparing them for writing skills.

Art

This week, our art activity was a very exciting experience for the children as we introduced painting on canvas. When the students saw the canvas, they were very curious and excited. We placed different colors of paint on the canvas and asked the children to name the colors they could see. This helped them practice color recognition and language skills.

After that, we covered the canvas with plastic. Many children looked closely and asked, “What is this?” They were very interested and eager to explore. We gave them their art smocks, and they happily put them on, ready to begin the activity.

We continued asking questions like, “What color is this?” and “What color is that?” Then the children started mixing the colors by pressing and moving their hands over the plastic. They were very busy and excited as they watched the colors blend and change. It was beautiful to see the new colors they created and their joy while exploring.

This activity supported their creativity, sensory exploration, and fine motor development, and the whole class enjoyed the experience!

Math Activity: Shape Discovery

This week's math activity was an exciting hands-on shape discovery activity using a sensory rice box! A large box was filled with rice, and different shape cutouts were hidden inside the rice. The children were invited one by one to explore the box by using their hands to search for the hidden shapes.

As they found a shape, they took it out and proudly shared what they discovered. Each child was encouraged to name the shape, such as circle, square, triangle, or rectangle. This activity helped the children practice shape recognition and develop their mathematical vocabulary in a fun and interactive way.

The rice sensory experience also supported the children’s fine motor skills, as they used their fingers and hands to dig, grasp, and manipulate the shapes. It encouraged curiosity, concentration, and confidence, as the children were excited to find the shapes and share their answers with their friends and teachers.

Overall, this activity was a joyful combination of sensory play and early math learning, helping the children to build a strong foundation in early mathematics.
