Dear families,
We hope this blog finds you well! Please enjoy reading the summary of our 3 day week. This Thursday and Friday (October 16 and 17) are reserved for teacher’s first aid and professional development training. We look forward to seeing you all back on Monday!
Large group
This week, the children had an exciting time exploring the letter f, the number 8, and the color purple through fun, hands-on activities. They searched for words that start with the letter f, proudly showed their eight fingers while counting together, and enthusiastically looked around the classroom to find objects that are purple. These engaging experiences helped the children strengthen their literacy, numeracy, and color recognition skills while fostering curiosity and active learning in a joyful way.
Math
In our math session, the children explored the concept of patterns through a fun and hands-on AABB activity using crayons and cubes. They eagerly arranged the materials in repeating sequences, noticing how the pattern continued in a predictable order. This engaging activity helped them strengthen their observation, sequencing, and problem-solving skills while building a strong foundation for early math understanding. The children enjoyed discovering how patterns can be found and created all around them!
Science
During our science session, the children explored the world of fruits with the help of colorful flashcards. They observed and identified various fruits, learning their names, colors, and shapes. We also had a lively discussion about which fruits they enjoy eating. The flashcards served as a great visual support, keeping the children engaged and curious throughout the activity. This hands-on learning experience helped them expand their vocabulary, improve their observation skills, and develop a better understanding of healthy eating habits.
Literacy
In our literacy session, the children engaged in a fun and interactive Zoo-Phonics activity where they matched letters f through i with the beginning sounds of different materials. They carefully listened to each sound and excitedly identified the matching objects, strengthening their letter recognition and phonemic awareness. This hands-on activity not only supported their early reading skills but also made learning sounds enjoyable and meaningful through active participation and discovery.
