Dear parents,
We had an amazing week with our enthusiastic Early Pre-K explorers! Their excitement and curiosity filled the classroom as they discovered new ideas through playful learning. From math and literacy, to art, each hands-on experience offered opportunities for growth. Their learning adventures encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and pattern recognition. Continue reading to learn more about their wonderful adventures!
Large group
This week in our large group sessions, we joyfully focused on our upcoming Family Day and the beauty of diversity. Throughout the week, the children engaged in meaningful activities that helped them appreciate families and different cultures. We read a heartwarming story titled “Shades”, which sparked wonderful discussions about how families can look different yet share the same love.
The children explored various national flags, cultural foods, and traditional clothes, developing an understanding and respect for the world’s many traditions. Alongside our theme, we also covered the number 9 as the children practiced counting and proudly showed their nine fingers. To wrap up our explorations, they went on a fun classroom search for the color black. It was a vibrant and joyful week filled with learning, sharing, and celebrating the uniqueness of every family!
Math
This week in our math session, the children had an exciting time exploring AABB patterns using colorful bears and pencils. Through this hands-on activity, they practiced identifying and creating repeating sequences by arranging the materials in the correct order — for example, bear-bear-pencil-pencil. The children were fully engaged as they observed, compared, and predicted what came next in the pattern.
This fun and interactive experience helped strengthen their logical thinking, observation skills, and early math understanding while fostering creativity and teamwork. It was wonderful to see their joy and confidence grow as they proudly shared their completed patterns with friends and teachers!
Literacy
During this week’s literacy session, the children were given the opportunity to use their journals to freely draw whatever they wanted. This open-ended activity allowed them to express their thoughts, feelings, and creativity through art. Each child eagerly picked up their crayons, filling the pages with colorful illustrations that told their own unique stories.
As they shared their drawings with friends and teachers, they practiced verbal expression and storytelling skills. This journal time not only encouraged imagination and self-confidence but also helped strengthen their fine motor and early writing skills. It was a joy to see how proudly they talked about their artwork!
Art
In this week’s art session, the children had an exciting time exploring colors and patterns! They began by mixing two primary colors: yellow and blue, after predicting what the result might be. With great curiosity and enthusiasm, they discovered that the two colors combined to make green! After this fun color experiment, the children used the new color they created to design an ABAB pattern on A3 size paper using circles and triangles.
This activity encouraged them to think creatively while practicing observation, sequencing, and fine motor skills. It was delightful to see their excitement as they proudly showed their beautiful green patterns to their friends and teachers!
Library
This week during our library session, the children had the wonderful opportunity to explore the world of books in their own unique way. Each child joyfully selected a book of their choice and settled down to read, flipping through colorful pages filled with stories and pictures that sparked their imagination.
It was heartwarming to see their growing curiosity and excitement as they discovered new ideas and characters. This activity not only nurtured their love for reading but also helped them become more familiar with the world of books, encouraging independence, focus, and a deeper appreciation for storytelling.
