Dear Parents,
We hope you had a great week. In the Early Pre-K classroom, our students experienced another lively and engaging week full of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning. Each activity was carefully designed to build early math skills, enhance cognitive development, promote positive social interactions, and nurture their natural curiosity. We are excited to share some of the highlights from this special week with you.
Happy Birthday Noor!
Large group
This week, our large group session was filled with excitement as the children enjoyed revisiting some of the concepts they have been learning. We began with a lively revision of Zoo Phonics, where the children enthusiastically shared the sounds and actions of each letter. It was wonderful to see their growing confidence as they recognized letter sounds and connected them with movements, making learning both fun and memorable.
We also explored the number 20, practicing counting together and identifying the number in different ways. The children showed great progress in their understanding, using their fingers and classroom objects to help them count. In addition, we introduced and reviewed the shape sphere. Through hands-on activities and real-life examples, the children discovered how a sphere looks and feels, identifying objects around them that share this shape.
These sessions were engaging and interactive, allowing the children to strengthen their skills while enjoying learning with their peers. We are proud of their enthusiasm and continued growth!
Math
This week in math, the class had a wonderful time exploring numbers from 11 to 20 through a hands-on tracing and coloring activity. The goal of this session was to help them recognize, form, and become more confident with these numbers while also strengthening their fine motor skills. The children carefully traced each number, paying attention to shape and direction, and then brought them to life using their favorite colors. It was exciting to see their focus, effort, and growing confidence as they worked through each number.
This activity also encouraged creativity and independence, as the children made personal choices about how to decorate their work. Alongside number recognition, they practiced patience and attention to detail, which are important skills for their overall development. We are proud of their progress and enthusiasm.
Science
As we came to the end of our weather topic this week, the children took part in a fun and engaging science session that brought together everything they have been learning. To celebrate their understanding, the class explored the three main types of weather we discussed: rainy, windy, and sunny, through a creative coloring activity. Each child was excited to express their ideas by choosing colors and adding their own unique touches to represent how they see and experience different kinds of weather.
This activity not only reinforced their knowledge of weather patterns but also supported their creativity and fine motor skills. It was wonderful to see the children confidently talk about their work, describing what happens during each type of weather and how it makes them feel.
Literacy
This week in our literacy session, the children engaged in an exciting exploration of beginning sounds through animals, body parts, and everyday objects. Using interactive activities, songs, and visual aids, they practiced identifying the first sounds of familiar words—such as /c/ for cat, /h/ for hand, and /b/ for ball. The children showed great enthusiasm as they connected sounds to images, strengthening their early phonics skills in a playful and meaningful way.
Throughout the session, we encouraged participation through group discussions, matching games, and hands-on activities that supported both listening and speaking skills. It was wonderful to see the children confidently sharing their ideas and recognizing sounds in words around them. These experiences are building a strong foundation for reading and language development.
Art
This week in our art session, the children explored their ideas and understanding through a creative and meaningful art activity. As part of our class discussions about weather and the natural world, the children were encouraged to express what they had learned by drawing clouds, rainbows, and sunlight. This activity provided a wonderful opportunity for them to connect spoken language with visual representation, strengthening both their comprehension and communication skills.
The classroom was filled with excitement as each child brought their own imagination to life on paper. Some drew bright, colorful rainbows stretching across the sky, while others focused on fluffy clouds or shining sun rays and some did a sky blue . Through this process, they practiced describing their artwork, using new vocabulary, and sharing their thoughts with their peers. It was a joyful and engaging experience that supported their literacy development while nurturing creativity and self-expression.
