Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well! This week in Pre-K was fun, engaging, and filled with exciting learning experiences. In math, we focused on counting and matching. In literacy, we began our introduction to Zoo-Phonics, learning letter sounds through fun actions and movement. We also enjoyed journaling, library visits, and art activities, giving our students opportunities to explore their creativity and develop new skills.
Overall, it was a fun and interactive week! Our students are becoming more familiar with our daily routines and classroom responsibilities and are growing more confident each day.

Large group
Our large group time in Pre-K went wonderfully this week! We introduced our students to our large group routine and explained the different responsibilities they will have throughout the day. Some of our classroom jobs include Calendar Helper, who helps fix the calendar and practices the days of the week, letters, words, rhyming words, and shapes. Other responsibilities include Caterpillar Counter, Watering the Planet, and many more. We also introduced jobs outside of large group, such as Line Leader, Chair Monitor, and Teacher’s Assistant. Each student will have the opportunity to take on different responsibilities, and the jobs will rotate daily so everyone can participate and practice being responsible.
Overall, our large group time is fun, interactive, and engaging! We enjoy learning together through music, movement, songs, and hands-on activities, making every large group session something to look forward to.
Literacy
This week in literacy, our Pre-K class was introduced to zoo phonics. We started with the first few letters, helping the children become familiar with each letter and its sound. We also learned the corresponding Zoo-Phonics actions, making it easier and more fun for the children to remember the sounds through movement and play.
In our next session, we will introduce more letters and review what we have learned through a fun and engaging activity. We’re excited to continue our Zoo-Phonics journey!
Math
This week in math, our Pre-K class focused on counting and maching. Since the beginning of the school year, our students have been practicing counting using numbers around the classroom, and this week we continued building on those skills through a fun, hands-on activity.
We started our math session by giving each child a toy and a number card. The children counted the toys and matched the quantity to the number on their card. They then exchanged their number cards with a friend and repeated the activity, counting and matching the new number to the correct number of toys.
This activity was a fun and engaging way for our students to practice counting, number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence while learning and playing together!
Art
This week in our Pre-K art sessions, students had the opportunity to draw their favorite things while working in groups. We divided the children into four groups and provided each group with a large sheet of paper to create their artwork together.
As they worked, the students practiced sharing space, respecting their friends’ ideas, and collaborating by helping and encouraging one another. It was a wonderful way to combine creativity with important social skills.
In our next art sessions, we will explore a new and exciting art project together!
Journal
Our journal journey has began this week. Journal in our class means where our students put their ideas and imaginations through drawing. In our first session this week, we started by decorating the journal book. Before we began, we prepared paper for them, and they chose their colors. Then we stapled the pages to make a book. This week, students decorated the cover page by drawing different things and writing their name as well. Next week, they will start using their journals.
