Dear Parents,
We hope your week has been as delightful as ours! Our Early Pre-K classroom was alive with excitement and curiosity as the children immersed themselves in a week of exploration, creativity, and learning. Through various interactive activities they explored math, science, literacy, and gymnastics. Each experience not only fueled their imagination but also supported important developmental skills like cognitive growth, pattern recognition, physical coordination, and problem solving. Continue reading to discover what made this week so special for our learners!
Large Group
This week’s large group sessions were filled with energy and discovery! The children focused on the letter “e” and its sound, expanding their vocabulary with fun and familiar words. During our morning message, they enjoyed sharing stories from their weekends, which made our discussions even more meaningful.
In math, we introduced the number 7 and revisited basic 2D shapes by inviting the children to form different shapes using pipe cleaners. These activities encouraged creative thinking, hands-on exploration, and problem-solving. It was truly a joyful week of learning, growth, and discovery!
Math
Our Early Pre-K learners had an exciting and engaging math session this week as they explored AABB patterns using colorful materials! The children worked with blue and yellow bears and cubes, arranging them in a repeating sequence of two colors.
Through this activity, the children practiced observing, predicting, and continuing the color patterns while strengthening their early math and logical thinking skills. They enjoyed sorting and placing the bears and cubes carefully, proudly showing their completed AABB patterns to their friends and teachers.
This interactive experience not only deepened their understanding of pattern recognition but also enhanced their fine motor coordination, focus, and creativity. It was wonderful to see their growing confidence as they identified and extended their own patterns with enthusiasm and joy!
Science
This week in our science session, the children were introduced to an exciting new topic — Healthy and Unhealthy Foods. Using colorful food flashcards, they explored different types of foods and discussed which ones help our bodies grow strong and which ones we should enjoy only sometimes.
Each child had the opportunity to choose a flashcard, observe it carefully, and share their thoughts with the group. They identified familiar items like fruits, vegetables, and milk as healthy choices, while snacks such as candies and ice cream were recognized as unhealthy.
Through this hands-on activity, the children developed their understanding of making healthy food choices and learned how different foods affect our bodies. The session encouraged them to think critically, express their ideas confidently, and build vocabulary related to nutrition in a fun and engaging way.
Literacy
In this week’s literacy session, the children had the opportunity to explore their creativity and self-expression through drawing in their personal journals. Each child was encouraged to draw whatever they wished—something from their imagination, a favorite activity, or a memory they wanted to share.
This open-ended activity allowed the children to express their thoughts and feelings visually while strengthening their fine motor skills and early writing habits. As they worked, many proudly shared their drawings with friends and teachers, describing what they had created in their own words.
This was a great chance for students to develop confidence in expressing themselves, built vocabulary, and connected art with literacy in a joyful and meaningful way.
Art
This week in our art session, the children had an exciting hands-on experience exploring color mixing! They were given blue and red paint and encouraged to combine the two colors to discover what new color would appear. With curiosity and joyful anticipation, they mixed the paints using brushes, eagerly observing the transformation that took place.
As the colors blended, the children were delighted to see the beautiful shade of purple emerge. This simple yet magical activity helped them understand the concept of primary and secondary colors in a fun and engaging way. It also encouraged observation, prediction, and creativity as they discussed what they thought might happen before and after mixing.
The session not only nurtured their artistic expression but also supported fine motor skill development and scientific thinking through exploration and discovery. It was a colorful, joyful learning experience for everyone!
Gymnastics
Our Early Pre-K learners had an energetic and joyful time during this week’s gymnastics session! The children eagerly participated in balancing walks and body stretches, activities designed to strengthen their coordination, flexibility, and body awareness.
They carefully walked along the balance line, focusing on maintaining their posture and control while taking steady steps. This activity encouraged concentration, confidence, and balance. Following that, they enjoyed a series of gentle body stretches, reaching high, bending low, and extending their arms and legs — helping their muscles stay strong and flexible.
Through these fun and active movements, the children not only enhanced their physical development but also learned the importance of focus and perseverance. It was wonderful to see their bright smiles and enthusiasm as they moved, stretched, and celebrated each small success together!
