Dear Parents,
We hope you have had a wonderful week! Our Early Pre-K classroom was filled with joy and enthusiasm as the children explored, created, and learned together. Throughout the week, they immersed themselves in math, art, literacy, and gymnastics activities that encouraged imagination while strengthening important skills like cognitive growth, pattern recognition, physical coordination, and problem solving. Keep reading to learn more about the exciting moments that made your child’s week truly special!
Large group
This week’s large group session was lively and action-packed! The children focused on Zoo-Phonics and practiced identifying letter sounds. During our morning message, they enthusiastically shared their Family Day experiences, adding a personal and meaningful touch to our routine.
In math, we continued building number skills by counting from 1 to 10 and introduced a new 2D shape—the hexagon! The children enjoyed counting its six sides and learning its unique features. We continued upon our color exploration, with this week’s focus being the color brown. The class had a blast searching for brown items around the classroom. Each of these activities encouraged critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. It was a joyful week of learning and discovery!
Math
This week in our math session, the children explored the concept of patterns by creating AABB patterns using pencils and bear counters. They carefully arranged the items by repeating two pencils followed by two bears, discovering how patterns repeat and follow a specific order.
This hands-on activity encouraged the children to observe, compare, and organize objects—strengthening their logical thinking and early math skills. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they confidently identified and extended their own patterns, showing growing understanding of sequencing and organization through play and creativity!
Literacy
This week in our literacy session, the children enthusiastically engaged in a fun Zoo-Phonics matching activity focusing on the letters f to i. They explored the beginning sounds of each letter by matching them with familiar materials and objects. For example, they connected “f” with a fish picture and “g ” with a green color.
This learning experience helped strengthen their phonemic awareness, allowing them to recognize the relationship between letters and their sounds. The children were excited to participate, confidently repeating the sounds and names of each letter — a wonderful step toward building early reading and language skills!

Art
In this week’s art session, our artists explored the magic of color mixing! The children began by combining red and yellow paint and were thrilled to discover the beautiful new color—orange! Their excitement was contagious as they watched the two primary colors blend into a warm, bright shade. After this fun experiment, each child chose their own colored paper and used their creativity to paint freely, expressing their unique ideas and imagination.
This hands-on experience helped the children strengthen their fine motor skills, understand color relationships, and express themselves through artistic exploration. It was wonderful to see their faces light up with curiosity and pride as they created their vibrant masterpieces!
Gymnastics (Soccer)
This week's gymnastics session took on a fun twist- instead of our usual acrobatics, we played soccer together instead! The session was full of excitement and teamwork! The children began by learning about the basic rules of the game — such as not using their hands, taking turns as goalkeepers, and understanding how to pass and score fairly. They listened attentively and showed great enthusiasm as they practiced following these new rules.
After the discussion, it was time to put their learning into action! The children eagerly played a short soccer game, demonstrating teamwork, coordination, and good sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see their growing confidence and cooperation on the field as they kicked, chased, and cheered for one another. The session not only supported their physical development, but also encouraged listening skills, patience, and collaboration. It was a blast and we can't wait for our next game!
