Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful and exciting two weeks together in the infants class! The children enjoyed a variety of activities including music, gymnastics, literacy and language, science, math, and art. It has been amazing to see their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm shine through each experience. Read on to hear more details…

Large Group

During the past two weeks, our large group sessions have been an utter delight- filled with bonding, lively energy and of course lots of learning.

We started each session by singing our cheerful "Good Morning" song, setting a happy tone for the day. After that, we gave the children the opportunity to choose their favorite songs from our music book. They were very excited and happily chose "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep," singing along with lots of enthusiasm! Following our singing time, we moved on to attendance. Each child had the chance to stick their picture on the attendance board, helping them recognize themselves and to feel a sense of responsibility. We then gathered to read and share the story "Little Lion." The children listened attentively and showed wonderful focus throughout the Storytime. It was beautiful to see their engagement and growing love for books. To celebrate their participation and listening skills, we ended our large group by giving each child a sticker — a simple reward that made them very proud and happy! We are so proud of all their progress and can't wait for more fun and learning in the weeks ahead.

Gymnastics

In our gymnastics class over the past two weeks, the children had so much fun with a ball transfer activity! We set up two hula-hoops and placed different colored balls in the middle. The children took turns picking up a ball, lying down on their backs, and then placing the ball into the second hula-hoop. They were very excited and fully engaged throughout the activity! Each child waited patiently for their turn and participated one by one, showing great teamwork, coordination, and patience. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing physical skills!

Art

This week in art class, we explored color mixing! First, we put different colors of paint on the canvas. Then, we covered the canvas with plastic. Before starting the activity, we sang a song about colors and had a discussion about them. When it was time to mix, some children used one finger while others used all their fingers. As they mixed the colors, they excitedly called out the colors they were creating.

In our second week of art class, we explored a fun and creative activity: balloon stamping on canvas using different colors. First, we gathered the children and introduced the activity by showing them how to dip the balloons into the paint and stamp them onto the canvas. The children were very excited and curious to try it themselves.

We then gave the children the opportunity to choose their own paint colors. One by one, they took turns stamping the balloons onto the canvas, creating colorful and unique patterns. The children showed a lot of enthusiasm and creativity during this activity. They enjoyed experimenting with different colors and seeing the different shapes and textures the balloons made. It was a joyful, hands-on experience that allowed them to express themselves freely through art.

Math

For our math activity, we introduced a shape-matching game using soft blocks. First, we drew the outlines of different soft block shapes onto a large piece of paper. We then placed the paper on the floor to create a big matching board. The children were very excited to begin. They carefully picked up the soft blocks and focused on finding the matching shapes on the paper. Each child worked with great concentration, thoughtfully comparing the blocks to the outlines before placing them down. Throughout the activity, the children remained very focused and engaged. They showed strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a good understanding of shapes and spatial awareness.

Literacy and Language: Animal Names, Sounds, and Fine Motor Practice

For our literacy and language activity, we set up a table with different animal figures. The students are all very engaged with the topics of animals, so we thought it would be a great way to reinforce some literacy skills as well! Each animal had a small circle in the middle. We started by gathering the children and talking about each animal — its name and the sound it makes. The children listened carefully and enjoyed making the animal sounds together. After our discussion, we invited the children to choose one animal they liked. Once they chose, we gave them a piece of rope. The children practiced threading the rope through the small circles in the animals. This activity not only supported their language development by learning new vocabulary and practicing animal sounds, but it also helped strengthen their fine motor skills as they focused on threading the rope through the small holes. The children were very engaged and excited to participate, and we can’t wait to see how their interest in animals continues to play out!
