Dear Parents,

We hope you had a wonderful week. In our Early Pre-K classroom, our students participated in a variety of engaging activities designed to support their early academic skills, creativity, and communication. Through group discussions, hands-on learning, and creative expression, the children continued to build confidence while exploring new ideas. We are happy to share some highlights from our week together.

Large Group

During large group time, we began the week by inviting the children to share about their weekend experiences. This opportunity allowed them to express their ideas, listen to their classmates, and build confidence in speaking within a group setting. The classroom was filled with lively conversations as the children shared their thoughts and experiences.

We also explored the 3D shape cylinder. Through discussion and observation, the children learned to recognize the shape and identify objects around them that resemble a cylinder. These discussions helped strengthen their ability to connect classroom concepts to real-life examples.

As part of our routine, we continued revising Zoo Phonics, where the children practiced letter sounds and movements while singing along to familiar phonics songs. These activities encourage active participation and help reinforce phonemic awareness in an enjoyable way!

Math

In math this week, the children worked on number identification and number writing. Using wooden number blocks labeled from 1 to 10 along with number flashcards, each child selected a number and identified it. After recognizing the number, they practiced writing it on the board.

This activity allowed the children to actively engage with numbers while strengthening their number recognition and early writing skills. Writing on the board also supported the development of hand coordination and confidence as they practiced forming numbers.

Science

This week in science, we introduced a new topic about seasons, with a special focus on spring. The children discussed what spring looks like and talked about the kinds of activities people often enjoy during this season. We also explored the weather patterns associated with spring, including sunshine, rain, and rainbows.

The children discussed the types of clothing that are appropriate for spring weather and observed pictures representing seasonal changes. Using visual materials from seasonal puzzles, they examined scenes that illustrated springtime environments and shared what they noticed in the pictures. These conversations helped the children develop observation skills while learning about the characteristics of the season.

Literacy

During literacy time, the children worked on their journals, a creative activity that encourages imagination and self-expression. Each child was free to draw whatever they wished, allowing them to express their thoughts and ideas through pictures.

As they drew, the children practiced holding crayons and pencils while adding details to their drawings. This activity supported both creativity and fine motor development while giving the children an opportunity to share their ideas with teachers and classmates.

Art

In art, the children continued working on their canvas projects in preparation for the upcoming art auction. They carefully used painting materials while adding colors and details to their artwork.

This ongoing project allows the children to express their creativity while strengthening fine motor control and concentration. They approached the activity with enthusiasm as they continued developing their individual pieces.
