Dear Parents,

We hope you had a wonderful week. In our Early Pre-K classroom, the children continued to learn through engaging, hands-on experiences. Throughout the week, they explored new ideas, practiced important foundational skills, and participated in activities that supported their social and cognitive development. Read on for some more details.

Large Group

During our large group sessions, our students practiced counting and identifying numbers, with a special focus on 16 and 17. Together, we counted aloud, recognized the numbers visually, and connected them to classroom materials to strengthen number awareness and sequencing skills.

We also explored 3D shapes, focusing on the cone and the sphere. Through discussion and observation, the children examined how these shapes look and how they differ from one another. They shared ideas about where these shapes might appear in everyday objects, helping them connect the concept to the world around them.

As part of our daily routine, we also reviewed Zoo Phonics, practicing letter sounds and movements together. This consistent revision continues to strengthen the children’s phonemic awareness.

Science

This week in science, we began a new topic on weather, starting with a discussion about rain. The children shared their ideas about what rainy weather looks like and talked about what people usually wear or use on rainy days, such as raincoats and umbrellas.

To make the experience more interactive, the children went outside and used spray bottles filled with water to simulate rainfall. As they sprayed the water, they pretended it was raining and explored the idea in a playful and hands-on way. This activity helped them connect their observations of weather to real-life experiences in a hands-on way.

Library

This week also included our library session, which is always an exciting time. Our class had the opportunity to explore different books, select ones that interested them, and spend time looking through the pages.

We also read together as a group, encouraging the children to observe the pictures, listen to the story, and share their thoughts. These experiences continue to support vocabulary development, listening skills, and a growing interest in books and storytelling.

Art

In art, the children explored clay modeling through an animal-themed activity. At the clay center, they shaped and molded the clay to create different kinds of animals. This hands-on experience encouraged creativity while helping develop fine motor skills as they rolled, pressed, and shaped the clay into their chosen forms.

The children also continued working on their canvas paintings, applying the painting skills they have been practicing. These creative sessions allowed them to experiment with materials while expressing their ideas through art.
