Dear Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful week! We are excited to share all the wonderful learning experiences we enjoyed together in our Preschool class this week. The children were curious, active, creative, and fully engaged in every activity. Please enjoy reading our weekly blog highlights and see what we have been exploring and learning together.
Large Group
In our large group sessions, we begon each morning by coming together and singing our joyful Good Morning Song, setting a positive tone for the day. We then read the story Hooray for Books! which the children truly enjoyed. After the story, we reviewed our Zoophonics letters from A to Z, practicing the actions and motions for each one. We also talked about the days of the week, the daily weather, and completed our attendance message board. This week, we learned about the parts of a plant, discussing the flower, leaf, root, and stem. The children participated actively and showed excellent understanding during our discussions.
Small Group
Science
In our science activity, the children planted their favorite flowers. We went outside, and each child took a turn digging soil into their pot, placing their flower inside, adding more soil, and watering it carefully. The children were very excited and proud of their plants. They watched each other closely, encouraged one another, and stayed focused throughout the process. It was wonderful to see their fine-motor skills, attention span, communication, and listening skills developing as they worked.
Math
In our math session, we explored AA–BB patterns using sticks and seeds. We completed this activity on the playground, which made it even more enjoyable for the children. After providing the materials, the students created patterns by placing two sticks followed by two seeds, repeating the sequence on their own. Some children asked for help, while others invented their own games with the materials. The activity was full of hands-on learning, movement, and creativity, and the children stayed engaged from beginning to end.
Library
During this week’s library session, we read the book “Hooray for Books!” again—this time focusing on the storyline. The story is about a turtle who loses her favorite book and searches through her friends’ homes. She checks several animals’ houses but cannot find it until she finally discovers it in the lion’s house. The students listened with great focus and excitement. After the story, each child selected a favorite book from the shelf. They explored the pages independently, looked at the pictures carefully, and enjoyed quiet reading time. At the end, they chose a book to take home and read with their families.
Art
Our art session was bright and colorful as the children made colored ice! Using cups, water, popsicle sticks, and different food-coloring options, the children mixed their own favorite colors. First, they added drops of food coloring, then poured water, and stirred everything together with a popsicle stick. After mixing, we placed the cups in the freezer to turn them into ice. The children are excited to use this colored ice for drawing next week! Some even asked if they could eat it, which made everyone laugh. Their creativity and enthusiasm made the activity extra special.
Literacy
In literacy, the children worked in their journals. They selected their favorite crayons and started drawing pictures inspired by their ideas and experiences. After finishing, they shared their drawings with their friends and teachers, explaining what they created. We saw drawings of houses, cars, rainbows, trucks, and many other imaginative pictures. This activity allowed the children to express their creativity while practicing fine-motor skills, storytelling, and focus.
