Dear parents,

We hope you had a wonderful week. In our Early Pre-K classroom, our students continued to engage in meaningful learning experiences that supported their communication, early math understanding, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative learning, the children explored new ideas while building confidence and independence. We are delighted to share highlights from our week together!

 Large Group

During large group time, the children participated in a variety of interactive discussions and revision activities. As part of our weekly routine, they shared their weekend experiences, helping to strengthen expressive language, listening skills, and confidence in speaking within a group setting. We also continued revising Zoo Phonics, where the children practiced letter sounds and movements through songs and actions.

Along with this, we revisited 2D and 3D shapes and encouraged the children to connect these shapes to familiar classroom objects. This helped them recognize how shapes appear in their everyday environment while reinforcing previously learned concepts. Large group time also included songs, conversations, and shared reading experiences, creating an engaging environment where the children could actively participate and communicate with one another.

Math

In math, the children explored the concept of before, building on last week’s learning about after. Using wooden number pieces, the children each selected and held different numbers while participating in an interactive group activity. Instead of only identifying numbers on cards, the children practiced understanding number order by asking questions such as, “who is before you?” and “who is after you?”.

This hands-on and movement-based approach helped make the concept more meaningful and easier to understand. The children enjoyed participating while strengthening their counting, sequencing, and reasoning skills.

Science

During science, we continued learning about living and non-living things. The children worked on worksheet activities where they identified and colored living and non-living objects using different colors. We also extended the lesson by encouraging the children to observe and classify materials around the classroom. Through discussion and observation, they practiced identifying which objects are living and which are non-living, helping reinforce their understanding of the topic in a practical way.

Literacy

In literacy, the children participated in a fun and engaging cookie-making activity connected to beginning sounds. The children helped prepare the dough and shaped cookies based on different beginning letters and sounds they have been learning. This hands-on experience supported phonemic awareness while also encouraging creativity, participation, and fine motor development. The children were excited to connect letters and sounds to a real-life activity, making the learning experience both memorable and enjoyable.

Art

In art, the children continued working on their ongoing art auction projects. They spent time adding details and developing their artwork while practicing the painting and creative techniques they have been learning. This process continues to support creativity, concentration, and confidence as the children work carefully on their individual projects.
