Happy Birthday Rufta

ree

Dear Parents,

We’ve had a fun and busy week in Early Preschool, full of learning and excitement! The children enjoyed exploring new activities, singing songs, reading stories, and practicing their movement skills. Each activity helped them grow, learn, and build confidence while having lots of fun together!

Large Group

Our recent large group sessions have been a delight, as usual! We introduced the number 1 and started the day by singing our cheerful “Good Morning” song and taking attendance. During attendance, each child stood up and placed their picture on the happy face, while the teacher placed a picture on the sad face for those who were absent. This helped the children understand that when someone is not at school, we miss them and feel sad, supporting their social and emotional development.

After that, we sang different songs together, talked about the weather, and read a story called “You Are a Big Sister.” We connected the story to real life by discussing their own experiences with having a little sister or brother. This encouraged them to share their thoughts, practice communication, and build confidence in expressing themselves!

Art

Our young artists continued their creative journey this week! Building on last week’s activity, where they stuck leaves and branches onto paper plates, this time the children explored a new material — orange paper. They tore the paper into small pieces, applied glue, and carefully stuck them onto their plates.

The children were very enthusiastic and worked beautifully together, helping one another and sharing materials. It was wonderful to see their teamwork, focus, and excitement as they created their colorful art pieces. This activity not only encouraged creativity but also supported their fine motor development and sense of cooperation. We are so proud of their efforts and imagination!

Literacy

Our literacy session this week focused on listening and communication skills through a fun sound identification activity. We placed laminated pictures down and used a speaker to play different sounds. Each child took turns to listen carefully and identify the correct picture that matched the sound. This activity was both enjoyable and engaging! Most of the children were very excited and able to identify the sounds of animals and objects such as a sheep, cat, dog, school bus, pig, and frog. This activity supported their listening, attention, and language development. For our next session, we plan to add different materials and new sounds to help them build a deeper understanding and continue developing their communication skills.

Gymnastics

This week’s gymnastics session was full of movement, fun, and learning! The activity focused on jumping, balancing, and coordination. The children started by jumping on one musical dot, then onto the next, following the teacher’s instructions carefully. After that, they were asked to turn around, pick up the first dot, and place it in front of them to continue jumping again and again until they reached the ball. Once they reached the ball, they were encouraged to throw it into the basket, which brought a lot of excitement and laughter to the group.

This activity was very helpful for our students as it supported the development of their gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. It also helped them improve their concentration, patience, and ability to follow multiple-step directions. In addition, the activity encouraged teamwork and social interaction, as the children took turns, waited patiently, and cheered for their friends.

At first, some of the children found it a little challenging to understand the sequence of steps, but with support, modelling, and encouragement from their teachers, they quickly caught on. By the end of the session, they were able to complete the task with great confidence and enthusiasm. We were so proud to see how they worked hard, stayed motivated, and celebrated each other’s success. The activity ended with happy faces and lots of smiles — a wonderful way to combine fun, movement, and learning!

Science

In our science session, the children explored boiled spaghetti using only their hands for a rich sensory experience. We started by helping everyone put on their art smocks, then placed a small amount of plain spaghetti on each child’s plate. They were encouraged to touch, squeeze, stretch, and feel the texture with their hands. Many of them were excited, describing the spaghetti as soft, slippery, and stretchy, and a few showed natural curiosity by trying to taste it. After they explored the plain spaghetti, we added yellow food coloring, and the children watched closely as the color began to spread. Using their hands, they mixed and squished the spaghetti, noticing how it slowly turned bright yellow while still feeling soft and smooth. Throughout the activity, they used descriptive language and simple observations, supporting their sensory development, fine motor skills, and understanding of cause-and-effect. This hands-on exploration kept them fully engaged from beginning to end.

Math

For our math session, we prepared laminated papers in different colors to support color recognition and matching skills. We divided the children into two groups to make the activity more focused and manageable. For the first group, we gave them laminated color pieces that were cut into two halves. Their task was to observe the colors carefully and match the two halves together to make a complete piece. We were so proud to see our students working with concentration, checking the shades and making sure both sides matched correctly. For the second group, we prepared the same colored papers but cut them into four smaller parts. Their challenge was to find all four matching pieces and put them back together like a puzzle. This required more attention, problem-solving, and patience. Once the first group finished their activity, we switched the groups so that everyone had the chance to try both matching tasks. The session helped strengthen the children’s color recognition, fine motor skills, focus, and early problem-solving abilities while keeping them engaged and confident in their work!
