Dear Parents,
We hope this blog finds you well. We are excited to share updates from the last two fruitful weeks in the infants and toddlers class. It has been a wonderful and productive time in the classroom, and the children were engaged and eager to learn. They explored, discovered, and enjoyed each activity, and we are so proud of their progress!
Large Group
During our large group sessions over the past two weeks, we started our sessions by singing the “Good Morning” song. After that, the children placed their picture on the happy face to signify attendance, and we counted together how many friends were present and how many were not here today. Next, we gave our students a chance to choose a song. They selected “Five Little Monkeys” and “Baby Shark”, and everyone sang along with great enthusiasm. After singing, we did some more counting as a class.
We then moved into our body parts discussion! We are glad to see how our students are now incredibly familiar with their body parts. When we talked about each part, they pointed, showed, and named them confidently. They also counted how many eyes, ears, and other parts they have, which made the activity even more exciting for them. We closed our large group time with our special routine; the teddy bear giving everyone a big hug, which the children enjoyed so much!
Gymnastics
We began our most recent gymnastics activity by preparing two hula hoops outside. One hula hoop was filled with colorful balls, while the other one was left empty. We explained to the children how to move the balls from one hula hoop to the other. Once the activity started, the children took turns picking up a ball, naming its color, and placing it carefully into the empty hula hoop.
The class was fully engaged and enjoyed the movement and coordination involved. As they collected the balls, they also practiced counting them, which added extra learning to the activity. The children were very excited, and they waited patiently for their turn. It was a wonderful session where they practiced gross motor skills, color recognition, counting, and turn-taking.
Language and Literacy
Our latest literacy activity was a colorful delight! To begin, we prepared different colors of beads, glitter, empty water bottles, water, and cups. Before starting, we explained the materials and showed the children how to make their sensory bottles. The children began by placing the colorful beads into their empty water bottles one by one. They focused carefully and enjoyed choosing their colors.
After that, they poured water into the bottles and added glitter to make them sparkle. Once everything was inside, we helped them close the bottles tightly. When they finished, the children shake their bottles and watched the beads and glitter move around. They were looking closely, observing how the colors mixed and how the glitter floated. The activity brought excitement, concentration, and lots of smiles.
Art
In our first session, we started by painting the background of the canvas using light brown paint and sponges. The children worked together, taking turns to dab and spread the color. They enjoyed the process and were very focused while painting. In the second session, we introduced a fun glove-painting activity. We added different colors of paint onto the gloves, and the children squeezed and pressed their hands onto the canvas to make textured prints. Our students were excited to see the colorful results!
In the second week, we prepared small cups by covering the top with plastic. The children chose their favorite paint colors, dipped the cups into the paint, and stamped them onto the canvas. They enjoyed creating circle shapes and watching the patterns appear.
Science
During our science class, the children continued their planting activity. Each student came one by one to plant their cabbage seeds. First, they dug a small hole in the soil, then gently placed the seed inside. They were very excited to take part in the process. After planting, the children covered the seed with soil and watered it carefully.
Math
Our most recent math activity was the perfect mix of fun and learning! Our class had a blast participating in a shape matching activity. First, the teacher prepared the table by making three different shapes with tape a circle, triangle, and square. The teacher introduced the shapes and showed the children how to match them. Then the children were given shape pieces to match with the shapes on the table.
At the beginning, the children came one by one to match their shapes. They carefully looked at the shapes and placed them in the correct place. Later, the children started working together, matching the shapes as a group. They watched each other and began helping their friends find the correct shape. The children were excited and engaged while learning about different shapes and practicing their matching skills.
