Dear Parents,
This week we have had an incredible time in Early Pre-K! Our little learners dove headfirst into a whirlwind of creativity, hands-on exploration, and exciting discoveries. From science experiments to math adventures and energetic gymnastics, every moment sparked curiosity and helped build foundational skills. Let’s take a peek at the unforgettable highlights from your child’s week.
Large Group
This week, the class buzzed with excitement during our large group sessions! We focused on the letter "J"—learning its sound, spotting it around the classroom, and discovering new words that start with it. The morning message turned into a fun scavenger hunt as the children eagerly searched for the letter "J" in their surroundings.
In math, we introduced the 3D shape pyramid, counting its sides and exploring the number 12—cue twelve tiny fingers waving in the air with friends! These activities weren’t just about numbers and shapes; they encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, all while keeping learning lively and joyful.
Math
This week, we had an unforgettable math session where children randomly grabbed their favorite number from 1 to 20 and counted objects as if they were flashcards. It all began with the excitement in the air as each child eagerly selected their favorite number. With their chosen numbers in hand, the children scattered around the room to find objects to count.
Armed with crayons, toys, and even snacks, the little mathematicians meticulously counted each object, matching it to their chosen number. Giggles filled the room as they proudly announced their findings to each other, showcasing their counting skills with enthusiasm.
Science
This week in science, our students were eager to dive into the world of plants and learn more about the tiny powerhouses that bring forth new life. The session began with an interactive discussion on the importance of seeds in the plant life cycle. The children listened intently, their eyes wide with wonder as they learned about the various shapes, sizes, and colors of seeds. To kick off the hands-on activity, each child was given different types of seeds - from sunflower seeds to pumpkin seeds and everything in between.
With a sense of curiosity and exploration, the children set out to examine the seeds through touch. They ran their fingers over the smooth surface of a sunflower seed, marveling at its unique texture. They compared the size of a pumpkin seed to a bean seed, noticing the differences in shape and color. The children's faces lit up with excitement as they discussed their findings and shared their ideas with one another. It was a truly enriching experience for all involved, sparking a sense of wonder and curiosity about the natural world around them.
Clay
We are thrilled to share with you the wonderful experience we had during this week's clay session. The children were given the opportunity to let their creativity run wild as they explored the endless possibilities of working with clay. From intricate sculptures to imaginative creations, each child truly showcased their unique talents and artistic flair.
During the session, we witnessed some truly amazing works of art. Some children decided to craft their own miniature cars out of clay, carefully molding and shaping each detail to perfection. Others chose to create elaborate tracks. It was incredible to see the level of precision and attention to detail that went into creating these tiny masterpieces. We are so proud of each and every child for their incredible creations and the hard work they put into their clay artwork. This session was not just about shaping clay, but about shaping minds and fostering a love for art and creativity in our students.
Gymnastics
This week we had a delightful and energetic time during our gymnastics session! Our young gymnasts started off their session by jogging around the class on musical dots. Not only did this activity get their blood pumping and warmed up their bodies, but it also added an element of fun and creativity to the warm-up routine. After the jogging warm-up, we moved on to the main gymnastics movement of the day: the glute bridge. The glute bridge is a fantastic exercise that not only strengthens the muscles of the back, glutes, and hamstrings but also helps improve core stability and overall body awareness.
It was truly inspiring to see the children enthusiastically participating in the gymnastics session, pushing themselves to try new movements and improve their skills. The glute bridge movement presented a fun and engaging challenge for them, and we were impressed with their dedication and perseverance throughout the activity. As we continue to explore different gymnastics movements and exercises in our sessions, we are excited to see our children grow and develop their skills. We believe that gymnastics is not only a great way to promote physical fitness and strength but also fosters important qualities such as discipline, teamwork, and confidence.
