Dear Parents,
We’ve had another wonderful week in Early Preschool and Preschool, full of learning, laughter, and exploration! We hope your week was just as great. Take a moment to enjoy our weekly highlights and the joyful pictures of your little ones in action—we’re so proud of all they’ve done!
Large group
In our large group session this week, we gathered together to start the day with our cheerful Good Morning songs. The children sang along with smiles and energy! We then talked about the days of the week and discussed the weather outside. After taking attendance, we moved on to our message board activity, where we explored different water animals like snakes, crabs, shrimp, and jellyfish. The students were very curious and excited to learn, participating with great enthusiasm. It was a wonderful way to begin our day together!
Small group
Math
This week in our math session, we had a fun and hands-on activity all about measurement! We have been focusing on this topic in our class for some time now, and it’s been wonderful seeing the student’s ideas and confidence develop! The students explored different objects to compare size, length, and weight. We used rulers to measure long and short brushes, and compared small and big pom-poms. The children also got to feel the difference between a full water bottle and an empty one, learning which was heavier and which was lighter. They enjoyed testing light cotton balls versus heavier wooden blocks too! To wrap it up, we looked at different-sized markers and practiced describing them using words like "shorter," "taller," "heavier," and "lighter." The students were very engaged and participated with great enthusiasm. It was a fun way to build their understanding of measurement through real-life objects!
Literacy
In this week’s literacy session, we had a wonderful time working on our journals. We began by sitting together as a group and asking each student what they wanted to draw. It was lovely to hear their ideas, shared one by one with excitement. After everyone had a chance to share, we handed out their journal books along with their favorite crayons. The students were so focused and creative as they brought their ideas to life on paper. It was a peaceful and engaging activity that allowed each child to express themselves through drawing and storytelling. We’re proud of how thoughtfully they worked—such a special moment of creativity and connection!
Gymnastics
This week in our gymnastics session, we had an exciting time with an equally active, yet slightly different than usual activity- our football training! Our class has been eagerly anticipating the friendly football match with ICS, and working so hard to prepare. We started with a warm-up by stretching our bodies and doing different movement activities to get ready. After warming up, we split into two teams and explained the role of each player. Both teams then got to choose their goalkeepers, which they were very excited about! The game was filled with energy, teamwork, and lots of fun. The students really enjoyed the session, and we made sure to cheer them on and encourage them throughout. It was a fantastic time for everyone—full of movement, learning, and laughter!
Science
In this week’s science session, we explored the exciting concept of floating and sinking! We prepared a variety of materials such as leaves, sticks, cotton, a water bottle, rocks, sponges, and different toys, along with a large bowl of water. One by one, the students took turns placing each item into the water to observe what would happen. Would it float on top or sink to the bottom? They were eager to share their observations, proudly saying “It’s floating!” or “It’s sinking!”. It was a fun and hands-on way to learn through discovery. The students really enjoyed the activity and stayed curious and focused throughout. A great session full of learning and smiles!
Library
In this week’s library session, our students had a lovely time diving into the wonderful world of books. They each chose their favorite books, found a cozy spot, and carefully looked through every page—one by one—enjoying the pictures and stories. At the end of the session, each child picked one special book to take home and enjoy with their family. It was a calm and joyful time that helped build their love for reading!
