Dear Parents,

We hope you had a wonderful week! Our preschoolers had a busy and exciting time learning, exploring, and creating together. Please take a moment to read and enjoy our weekly blog to see all the fun and engaging activities we’ve been doing in class recently.

Happy Birthday Gabriella!

Large Group

In our most recent large group sessions, we started our day by singing a cheerful “Good Morning” song, which brought lots of smiles and energy to the room! After our song, we enjoyed reading “You’re a Big Sister”, a lovely book that the students really liked. Then we explored our Zoophonics letters, practicing their sounds together. We also had a great discussion about the weather and the days of the week, helping everyone learn and share their observations. Next, we took attendance and moved on to our message board activity, where we practiced counting numbers from 1 to 10. The students participated enthusiastically in every part of the session!

Small Group

Math

In our math session, we began by counting numbers from 1 to 10 together. The children were excited to join in! After that, we introduced a fun activity using flashcards with a mix of big and small numbers. We placed the cards on the floor and showed the children how to separate the big numbers from the small ones. Next, the children took turns matching the small number flashcards with the corresponding big number flashcards. They really enjoyed the challenge and worked enthusiastically to find each pair. To wrap up our session, we sang the “How Many Fingers” number song together. The activity went very smoothly—everyone participated actively and had a wonderful time learning about numbers!

Library

In our library session, we read a lovely book called “You’re a Big Sister.” We had also read this story during our large group session. The story talks about how to care for our little sisters and brothers. The children really enjoyed it because many of them are big sisters or brothers themselves. Everyone was excited to share their little siblings’ names and talk about what they do for them. After that, the children explored other books and chose one to take home. It was an amazing and joyful time!

Art

In our art session, we did a fun and messy blow painting activity. First, we took the children to the art studio, where they grabbed a chair and sat down. After putting on their art smocks, we introduced the materials — straws, paper, and paints. We then asked the children to choose their favorite paint colors. After that, we gave them the materials and guided them as they began their work. This activity helped the children with their breathing, color identification, and focusing skills. The children were very engaged and participated actively. It was a messy but amazing activity.

Literacy

In our literacy session, we practiced matching lower case and upper case letters. First, we started by reviewing the letters together. Then we took the children outside and hid the lower case letter flashcards inside the sand. On the mat, we placed the upper case letter flashcards. The children searched for the small letters in the sand and matched them with the big ones. Everyone was excited and focused throughout the activity. They did an excellent job, and it was a fun and creative way to learn letters!

Science

This week in our science class, we explored healthy foods by tasting broccoli, carrots, apples, and bananas. Last week, we had discussed the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods, and the children were excited to try some healthy ones themselves. They mentioned the foods they wanted to taste — broccoli, carrots, apples, and bananas — so we provided them with those. The children were very excited and enjoyed the activity. It helped them identify different tastes and better understand which foods are healthy. It was a memorable and active learning experience for everyone!
