Dear families,

We hope this blog finds you well! As it’s been a shorter than usual week, we included a summary below of what the class has been up to. Thursday and Friday (October 16 and 17) are reserved for teacher’s first aid and professional development training. We look forward to seeing you all back on Monday!

Large Group

Our large group sessions this week were exciting and fun! We decided to change things up by going outside and started by singing our hello song. Then, we took attendance and talked about everyone’s favorite color and the color of clothes they were wearing. Afterwards, we read a book called “Little Lion Shares”.

Gymnastics

Our gymnastics session started with some warm-up activities to get our bodies ready for movement. Then we set up two mats, and the teacher demonstrated how to roll and flip safely. Afterwards, the children took turns practicing their rolls and flips one by one, with guidance and encouragement from the teacher. Everyone tried their best and showed great balance and coordination. The children were very excited and enjoyed cheering for their friends as they practiced.

This activity was very important because it helped the children develop their gross motor skills, body coordination, balance, and confidence. It also encouraged teamwork, listening skills, and following directions while having fun and staying active.

Literacy

Our literacy activity focused on developing fine motor skills and concentration. The children practiced placing pom-poms along the given lines on paper — some were straight, and others were zigzag. Most of our students did a great job following the lines carefully and showed good hand-eye coordination. However, we noticed that some children needed extra support in listening carefully and following directions. We plan to include more activities in the future to help strengthen their listening skills and ability to follow multi-step instructions.

Art

Our art session continued with exploring the color yellow. We used a fun tissue-rolling technique — the children rolled the tissue paper, cut the bottom part, and used it as a stamp on their paper. Most of our students began to recognize the color yellow, which we are glad to see. The children were also able to connect the color yellow with familiar objects and materials around them. It was an exciting and creative experience! Some children made small stamps in different areas of the paper, while others chose to stamp on the same spot — both approaches were wonderful expressions of their creativity and individuality.
