Dear Parents,
We had a wonderful week in Preschool, filled with learning, laughter, and fun activities. We invite you to take a few moments to read through our weekly blog and enjoy the lovely pictures of your children as they explore, create, and grow.
Large Group
In this week’s large group sessions, we gathered in a circle with our students and had a wonderful time sharing and learning together. We started by discussing the students' morning routines at home. Many shared that they use the bathroom, brush their teeth, and eat breakfast before coming to school. After our discussion, we sang our cheerful “Good Morning” song and took attendance. We also talked about the days of the week and observed the weather for the day. On our message board, we explored the square shape—focusing on its sides and corners. The students were very engaged and participated actively throughout the session. It was a great start to our day full of learning and connection!
Small Group
Literacy
In our literacy session, we had an exciting time exploring the Zoophonics letters A to M! The students learned each letter's sound and motion, bringing the alphabet to life with fun and energy. After practicing the letters, the students worked on sorting letter sounds and motions, showing great focus and understanding. To wrap up our session, each student picked their favorite letter flashcard and proudly demonstrated the matching motion and sound. It was a joyful and interactive way to build phonemic awareness, and everyone had a fantastic time learning together!
Art
In our art session, the students had a fun and creative time making square shapes using cotton buds! First, we headed to the art studio where we explained the activity step by step. Each student was given glue, paper, and four cotton buds. They carefully glued the cotton buds onto the paper to form square shapes. Everyone was very focused and excited to create their designs. To add a final touch, the students decorated their artwork with glitter to make it shine. It was a fun and engaging session, and we were so proud of their beautiful creations!
Math
In our math session, we had an exciting time learning about square shapes. We started by discussing the features of a square — equal sides and four corners. Then, we explored this concept hands-on by using magnet wooden blocks and square-shaped flash cards. To make learning even more fun, we turned it into a game! We hid the square shapes around the playground, and the students eagerly searched for them. As they found each shape, they proudly placed them in a box, saying things like, "I found one square!" or "I found two squares!" with great confidence. It was a wonderful, interactive way to reinforce learning — full of excitement, movement, and discovery!
Science
In our science session, we had a fun and interactive activity all about the sense of smell! We prepared different items for the students to smell, including rosemary, flowers, mint, water, and coffee. The students took turns smelling each item and sharing what they noticed using only their noses. It was a simple but exciting experiment. The students especially enjoyed guessing the smells and were surprised to find that water doesn’t have any smell at all! This activity helped the students understand how our noses work and how important our sense of smell is in identifying things around us.
Library
This week, we had a joyful library session where our students had the chance to explore a variety of books. They eagerly picked their favorite ones and sat down to enjoy the pictures and stories. It was heart-warming to see their excitement and curiosity as they flipped through the pages. After spending some quiet and engaging time in the library, each student chose one special book to take home. It was truly a great experience filled with learning, laughter, and the joy of reading.
