Toddlers Class’s Action Packed Weeks!

 Dear parents,

We hope this blog finds you well! It has been a wonderful two weeks in the toddlers class, filled with exciting educational endeavors, bonding, games and so much more! We look forward to sharing the highlights with you.

Large Group

In the last two weeks during large group time, we focused on enhancing our toddlers' language skills through interactive activities centered on colors. We introduced the week’s theme with a vibrant whiteboard display featuring pictures in our designated colors: pink and blue. During our discussion, we encouraged the children to share what they saw, which sparked lively conversations about the colors of the clothing they were wearing. This simple exercise not only helped develop their vocabulary but also fostered a sense of connection among the children. We then sang our “Good Morning” song, a wonderful way to start our day and take attendance. The kids love joining in, and it sets a positive tone for our activities ahead. After our singing, we enjoyed reading the book "Things I Like". This story resonated with many of the children, as they enthusiastically shared their favorite things during the discussion that followed. It was heartwarming to see their personalities shine as they expressed their interests! One of our favorite parts of the large group session is the chance to get to know each child’s personality and interests better.

Cooperative Game

Our cooperative game session was fun and engaging! The activity involved passing a ball using a cup. We took the children outside the classroom, where we sat in a circle on the mat and gave each child a cup. After explaining the game and demonstrating how it works, we began. At first, the children were excited and eager to play with the ball, and after a few minutes, they really enjoyed the challenge of passing the ball with the cup. The activity helped them develop fine motor skills, teamwork, and focus, all while having a great time together.

Literacy

In our literacy session, we focused on helping the children follow directions, which allowed us to assess their understanding of words and improve their eye-hand coordination. We started by sticking pictures on the wall, such as high-five, clapping, a fist bump, and a thumbs-up. We then gave the children a chance to mimic these actions exactly as shown in the pictures. Most of them performed the actions correctly, and some even practiced again during recess time. This activity helped the kids develop better focus and coordination between their eyes and hands.

Art

Our art session was amazing, as always! This time, we focused on stamping different shapes in various colors onto paper. Before starting, we set up the art smocks and handed each child a piece of paper. We then asked the children to stamp different shapes and colors, giving them a chance to explore their creativity. The kids enjoyed the activity and had fun experimenting with the shapes and colors as they stamped them onto their paper.

Mathematics

In our math session, we wrapped up our week of colors by focusing on blue and pink. We took the children outside the classroom, where we placed various colored materials on the mat. On the table, we placed two boxes—one blue and one pink—where the children could sort the items by color. This activity showed significant progress in each child’s understanding, as they were highly engaged and successfully identified the colors. It was a proud moment for us to see their enthusiasm and growth. They even repeated the activity a second time because they enjoyed it so much!

Gymnastics

This week in our gymnastics session, we focused on developing body strength through a variety of fun and engaging activities. The children enjoyed jumping, navigating through tunnels, and climbing ladders, all of which contribute to their physical development.

We started by moving out of the classroom to do some warm-up activities, which helped get their bodies ready for the exciting challenges ahead. The children were thrilled to take turns and participate in each activity, demonstrating their enthusiasm and growing confidence.

These exercises not only promote strength but also improve coordination and balance. It was wonderful to see the children supporting each other as they cheered each other on during their turns.

Overall, it was an energetic and rewarding session, and we can’t wait to see how they continue to grow stronger in the weeks to come!

Science Activity: Exploring Senses

For our science activity, we focused on the senses, sight and touch. We took the students outside of the classroom and divided them into two groups. First, we introduced the session by explaining that they would be exploring colors and textures through their senses.

We prepared plastic bags with blue and pink food coloring, representing our "week's colors". Each student received a plastic bag containing one of the colors. They were then asked to identify the color by sight and then use their sense of touch to feel the texture of the food coloring inside the bag.

This kind of hands-on, sensory activity helps students connect the concept of color with their physical senses in a fun and interactive way!
