Pre-K Winter Wonderland!

Greeting dear parents!

How was your week? We hope it was wonderful. Our week was a blast, full of fun activities and learning collaboratively.

This week, the children had a great time wrapping up our first semester together and anticipating our Christmas break! We recapped most of the activities they have learned throughout the semester in literacy, science, art, and math. It was a fantastic week for our students, and we are so proud of each of them for the progress they have made.

Math

This week in math, to finalize what we have learned about numbers, we created a number collage that includes all our students from 1 to 10. It was a beautifully creative commemoration of how far we’ve come together in learning math concepts! First, we counted, and then the students placed their numbers on the paper in the correct order. This helps our students recall and review the numbers, preparing them for the next upcoming challenging math concepts.

Literacy

This week's literacy activity was delightful and new- “Show and Tell”. Our children brought in special items from home, taking turns to share with the class. This experience allowed them to practice public speaking skills, fostering confidence while also encouraging active listening among peers. They enjoyed learning about each other’s treasures, which helped build a stronger classroom community.

"because it's cute I like it" Mitsuki

"This is a kitty. when we turn the motor it's gonna go fast by her self" Leul

"I bring a train and a toy truck. It pick something heavy" Solomon

"I love my teddy bear, I sleep and wake up my teddy bear" Hala

"I forgot her cloth in dubai" Liyat

"it going by it self" Alen

"she have long hair" Lielina

Science

This week in science, we made playdough by mixing colors to create secondary colors. Making playdough is one of our Pre K class’ favorite activities. This time, we focused on mixing two colors to reinforce the primary colors we learned in our literacy sessions. The students created their own playdough, with some mixing yellow and red to get orange, others mixing red and green to get brown, and some mixing yellow and blue to get green. As they mixed, they were excited and surprised to see the different secondary colors they created. They also took home the playdough they had made.

We also did another science experiment to change the color of a white flower into another color. We placed the flower in a cup of water and added red food coloring by the dropper. After leaving it overnight, we observed the flowers changing color to red as they absorbed the dye. Everyone was truly amazed and surprised by this process.

Library

This week, our library session was so much fun! The library is the perfect place to nurture our students' love for reading. From exciting books to engaging activities, there’s something for every little learner. Listening to stories helps kids learn new words and improve their communication skills.

Students pick out books that catch their eye and then read different books by themselves. After reading, they put the books back where they found them. We read "Best Friends Forever," which was really interesting for everyone. They then asked if they could write letters to their best friends. After choosing a color, they wrote two letters for their friends. It was a very exciting moment!

"see me and Solomon swinging" Leul

"look hala this is for you" Lilelina

"I draw heart for you" Hala

Art

In this week's art activity, our class full of innovators made an intriguing creation- a "Popsicle Stick Sun". First, we all counted together while using a marker to dot each popsicle stick from 1 to 10. Then, the students glued the numbered popsicle sticks around the edge of a circle to create the sun's rays. After that, we counted all the dots on the popsicle sticks surrounding the sun. Our students really enjoyed combining math and art through counting and sticking. This activity was a simple and engaging way to practice counting while creating something bright and cheerful.

Have a nice Christmas break! We hope you all have a beautiful, restful time with family. For those joining our Christmas break camp, a friendly reminder that the dates for the camp are December 23-January 3!

 Thank you for your time!
