Hello Dear Parents,

We hope this blog finds you well! Over the past two weeks, we have had an amazing time in our Infants and Toddlers class. The children have been full of excitement and joy as they explored different activities, learned new things, and played happily together. Each day, their smiles and energy show us how much they are enjoying their time in class.

Large Group

During our Large group sessions, we generally begin by singing the “good morning” song together. The children waved their hands with big smiles as they greeted their teachers and friends. After that, we practiced Abeba Yehosh, a beloved Ethiopian cultural song in preparation for the upcoming Demera celebration. The students are giving it their all, and we’re so proud of them! We also enjoyed story time. The children showed great focus and listened carefully to the book, which they really liked. It was a joyful and meaningful time, filled with music, greetings, and learning.

Gymnastics

It was a lively and active time in gymnastics, as usual! We started with a jumping activity and then moved on to a musical dot game. First, the teachers explained to the children how to jump and what they should do during the gymnastics class. After the explanation, the children began the activities, taking turns one by one. Through these exercises, they practiced important skills such as physical development, coordination, problem-solving, and following instructions. The children showed great interest and enjoyed the activities with excitement and energy.

Language and Literacy

During our literacy and language session, we explored animal pictures. First, we prepared different animal pictures, wrapped them with magazine paper, and placed them in a basket. Before starting the activity, the teachers explained to the children what they needed to do and showed them how to open the wrapped pictures. The children took turns unwrapping the pictures with excitement. Together, they identified the animals and shared their ideas. This activity supported their language development, built their vocabulary, and encouraged cooperation as they worked and learned together.

Math

Our class had a delightful time in math, where we enjoyed a fun hunting pom-pom activity. First, we prepared a clear box and filled it halfway with water. Then we added different colorful pom-poms and provided spoons for the children to use. Before starting, the teachers explained to the children how to scoop out the pom-poms. As they picked them up, we encouraged the children to name the colors by saying things like, “This is purple”. The children happily repeated and identified the colors while practicing. This activity gave them the chance to strengthen their fine motor skills, practice color recognition, and build confidence as they were encouraged and supported throughout the session.

Science

During our science class, we explored and identified different animal sounds. First, we prepared animal pictures and their matching sounds. Then we played the sounds through the speaker, and the children listened carefully and guessed which animal it was. When they heard the sounds, the children excitedly named the animals and matched them with the pictures. They were very engaged and happy during the activity, showing curiosity and focus as they explored the world of animals through sound.

Art

During our art class, the children enjoyed free painting on the wall using art brushes. At first we talked together about the different colors. While painting, we also sang a color song, which made the activity more fun and engaging. The children were very excited as they started painting on the wall. Each child chose their favorite colors by themselves and asked for more paint with great enthusiasm. At the end of the activity, they helped to clean the wall with towels, demonstrating responsibility and collaboration.
