Kindergarten Weekly News

We had a fun and exciting week! We were introduced to some new and amusing concepts this week! We can’t wait to share them with you! We also started a new daily schedule for our class.

7:30-8:30 Free choice

8:30- 9:00 Large group

9:00- 9:30 Letters, Sounds and Numbers

9:30-9:40 Outside play

9:40- 10:15 Small group exploration

10:15- 10:30 Snack

10:30- 11:00 Recess

11:00- 12:00 Worktime

12:00- 12:30 Pickup/ Free choice

What we did this week!

Math:

We continued counting by 2s this week. We worked on some worksheets to develop this skill. We learned that counting by 2s makes counting faster!We referred to our caterpillar when we got lost!It was a bit bricky bit we will keep exploring this area.

Our friends showed us several ways on how we can sort o​ut things. We sorted them by color, shape, size and identity.

Literacy:

For literacy we worked on the lower case letters and later on we matched them with the upper case letters. We also worked on strengthening our fine motor skills by tracing the letters on the worksheet. We brought home some of our works to share with our family.

Social Studies:

We began our geography introduction this week! This students were engaged with each other and asked questions like where their friends were. Here are a few points we covered:

• Geography is the study of the physical and populated earth

• What elements make the earth

• Where we are from

• Terms such as map and globe

Bookstore updates!

We are counting the days until the grand opening of our bookstore! When we first sat down to plan, we asked if it was possible to have a triangle shape shelf and here it is with our books displaced on it! The excitement on the kid’s faces was priceless when they saw it! Thank you all who worked to make this happen!

Reminders

Tuesday is our Art day, please make sure your child wears their ‘Art clothes’ because we use paints and our activities get messy!

Monday is our Library day! Don’t forget to send library folders so your child can choose a new book.
