Our First Week of Kindergarten!

Dear Family, hope you’re all settling into the new academic year wonderfully! We certainly had a blast in Kindergarten! We started off our week by getting to know each other, from introducing ourselves, sharing our names and favorite things, to learning about our school and classroom rules. We also started our Number Caterpillar journey, gave each child a classroom responsibility, and added their names to our duties chart.

We went on a school tour, recapping some of the things we already knew while discovering all the new equipment around us. We made sure our children felt comfortable and safe exploring and using everything around them. We then started exploring our classroom corners and getting familiar with all the different materials, including reading and understanding the labels together. Once we knew what goes where, where we go to read books and phonics books, and where to find our writing materials, we began using them little by little each day.

From forming our names using magnetic letters, to drawing with stencils and on paper using our rock crayons, to reading books in our cozy library spot, it was a week full of exploring, discovering, and getting comfortable in our new classroom. It was such a wonderful first week, and we can’t wait to dive into our schedule based activities and all the exciting learning adventures we have planned for next week! Reminders and notes:

• Please make sure that our children are wearing suitable clothes on Monday as we have art class and activities get messy sometimes.

• Every Tuesday, we have gymnastics, so please ensure that our children come dressed in comfortable and loose fitting sports attire to facilitate their exercise.

• Every Wednesday and Friday is library day. Our children will be bringing home a book of their choice in their library folder, so please make sure to read the book with them over the weekend. Please return the folder the following Wednesday so they can get a new one.

• Every Friday, we have football, so please make sure our children wear their football jerseys if they have them, or any comfortable shorts.
