Dear Parents,
We hope your week has been wonderful! Our Early Pre-K learners had an exciting week filled with discovery and creativity. Through hands-on activities, they explored science, literacy, and clay modeling—enhancing their cognitive skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Read on to see the highlights of their enriching week!
Large group
This week’s large group sessions were lively and active! We focused on the letter K, practicing its sound and discovering new words that begin with it. During morning discussions, the children loved sharing their weekend adventures.
In math, we introduced the number 13, and the little ones had fun counting together—showcasing their teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills!
Science
This week’s science session focused on exploring seeds. The children had a great time observing and differentiating various types of seeds based on their colors, sizes, and textures. They also learned about how plants grow from these tiny seeds into beautiful greenery.
During the session, the children were presented with a variety of seeds in different colors, sizes, and textures. They eagerly examined each seed, noting the differences and similarities among them. Some seeds were small and round, while others were larger and more elongated. The colors ranged from dark browns to vibrant black and everything in between. The textures varied from smooth to rough, providing a varied sensory experience for our young scientists.
This activity proved to be an enriching and educational experience for our young learners. They not only learned to differentiate seeds based on colors, sizes, and textures but also gained valuable insights into the wondrous process of plant growth.
Literacy
This week in literacy, our students went on an exciting journey through the world of literacy using Zoo Phonics Flashcards! At the beginning of our literacy adventure, the children were introduced to the 26 letters of the alphabet through the engaging and interactive Zoo Phonics. Each letter was associated with a friendly animal character, making learning the alphabet a memorable experience for our students. As we delved into the world of Zoo Phonics, the children eagerly embraced the challenge of mastering each letter sound and corresponding gesture. From the majestic Allie Alligator to the zany Zelma Zebra, the children enthusiastically practiced identifying and pronouncing each letter, building a strong foundation for their reading and writing skills!
Through regular practice with the Zoo Phonics Flashcards, the children have quickly became proficient in recognizing and sounding out all 26 letters of the alphabet. Their confidence in letter recognition and phonics skills grew exponentially, laying the groundwork for future success in reading and writing. Not only did the children excel in individual letter recognition, but they also developed a deep appreciation for the power of language and communication. The Zoo Phonics program sparked their curiosity and creativity, inspiring them to explore new words and stories with enthusiasm and joy.
Water fun
This week, we had an amazing time engaging in a water-filled extravaganza with our students! From water games to refreshing treats, our water fun day was a hit with all the children. The day started with various water activities to beat the heat. The children participated in water balloon toss, sprinkler dance-offs, and even a friendly water gun fight. Laughter and joy filled the air as they splashed around and enjoyed the cool water under the sun.
After all the water play, we gathered together for a special treat – lemonade and watermelon! The children eagerly sat down to enjoy the refreshing drinks and sweet watermelon slices. It was the perfect way to cool down and refuel after a morning of active play. Seeing the children’s smiles and hearing their laughter throughout the day was truly heartwarming. It was a joy to watch them bond with their friends, embrace the summer spirit, and create lasting memories together. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved, and we can’t wait for more fun-filled days like this in the future.
Clay
In this week’s clay session, the children embraced their creativity, exploring the limitless potential of clay as they shaped their unique visions. Whether crafting detailed sculptures or whimsical designs, every student demonstrated their individual artistic talent.
Throughout the session, we were amazed by the imaginative projects the children produced. Some meticulously designed tiny clay cars, paying close attention to every little feature. Others focused on building intricate tracks, showcasing impressive precision and care. We’re incredibly proud of each student for their dedication and the wonderful artwork they created. More than just molding clay, this session nurtured creativity and inspired a deeper appreciation for art in our young learners.
