Dear Parents,
We hope this blog finds you well. Here in our Preschool class, it has been another wonderful week in filled with hands-on learning and exciting activities! Please take a moment to read about our weekly highlights and celebrate the amazing work of our students.
Large Group
In our large group session, we started by sitting together in a big circle. We said good morning to our friends and sang our cheerful Good Morning song. After that, we read a book called “How to Brush Your Teeth”. The students really liked the story and listened with great enthusiasm. Next, we practiced our Zoo-Phonics letters from A to Z. Then, we took attendance and talked about the days of the week. We also discussed the weather. This week has been a bit cloudy and rainy, so we talked about what we should wear for cloudy or rainy weather. It was a great time together. The students participated with confidence, were very engaged, and were excited to take turns sharing their ideas and thoughts.
Small Group
Literacy
This week during our literacy session, the students enjoyed a fun role-playing activity in our LE Café center. The children chose different roles such as cashier, chef, waiter, and customers. They worked together as a team and happily acted out their café scenarios. The students played cooperatively, shared materials, and had wonderful conversations with each other. They created short pretend situations just like in a real café, taking turns and helping one another during the play.
This activity supported the children’s speaking and listening skills, social-emotional development, and problem-solving abilities. It also encouraged both fine and gross motor skills as they moved around the café center and handled different items. It was amazing to see all of our students engaged, communicating, and using their imagination in the café center. We had a wonderful time learning through play!
Clay
In our clay session, our students shared their creativity and brainstormed their own ideas for clay creations. First, we asked them what they wanted to make. They came up with wonderful ideas such as pizza, a car, a dinosaur, and a snake. Then, the students started shaping their creations using the clay. Some students asked their teachers for a bit of help to follow their plan, but most of them worked independently and created what they imagined. It was a joy to see their creativity and imagination come to life!
Math
In our math session, we practiced counting numbers from 1 to 10 using beans. First, we counted together using flash cards from 1 to 10. After that, the teacher demonstrated how to match numbers with the correct amount of beans. For example, when we chose the number 7, we counted 7 beans. After the students understood the activity, they chose their favorite number and matched it with the correct number of beans. Finally, they counted their beans for the teachers. It went very well, and all the students understood the activity very well.
Art
In our art session, we did a fun letter stamping activity. First, we reviewed our Zoo-Phonics letters one by one. Then the students chose their favorite letter and selected the paint they wanted to use. Next, they dipped the letter stamp into the paint and stamped it onto the chart paper. All the students had a chance to participate. They were very excited and happy while creating their artwork. The results were amazing! After stamping, the students added some glitter to make their artwork shiny and beautiful. It was a fun and creative session for all!
Library
In our library session, we read a book about how to brush our teeth. The book talked about the importance of brushing our teeth at least two times a day. It also explained which kinds of food help keep our teeth healthy and strong, and at what age our baby teeth fall out and our adult teeth grow. We had a nice conversation with the students, and they participated very well. They shared about their routines at home, the color of their toothbrush, and the toothpaste they use. After the discussion, the students chose their favorite books, looked at the pictures, and turned the pages. It was a great and enjoyable time in the library.
