Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year! We’re so happy to have you and your children with us. It’s been a great start, and we’re excited for the year ahead. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to in our Preschool class during the second week. The children are settling in well, making friends, and enjoying fun learning activities. Enjoy reading and looking at the pictures!

Large Group

In our large group, we usually start by sitting in a circle and started by asking the children about their morning and their favourite breakfast choices. We sang our good morning song, took attendance, and talked about the days of the week and the weather. It was a lovely time, and the students participated actively throughout the session.

Small Group Sessions

Art

In our art session, the students enjoyed a fun and engaging collage activity. We began by giving them different colors of recycled paper, which they tore into small pieces. Then, each student received a sheet of paper and glue to create their own collage. They carefully arranged and stuck the colorful pieces to form beautiful designs. It was a simple yet creative activity that really captured their attention. The students stayed focused and truly enjoyed the experience!

Literacy

Our recent literacy session was filled with creativity and joy! We started by giving each student their own journal book and their favorite crayons. The excitement on their faces was priceless. The children began by drawing anything they liked. Some drew their families, others drew nature, animals, or their favorite places. After finishing their artwork, each student took turns explaining what they had drawn. It was wonderful to hear their ideas and see their imagination come to life. It was truly a fun and meaningful time, helping the children express themselves and build their language skills in a creative way!

Math

In our recent math session, the class got busy with an exciting and hands-on color sorting activity! The students explored colors using soft, colorful pompoms. Each student picked their favorite color of plate and used clips to carefully pick up pompoms that matched. It was a wonderful way to practice sorting, fine motor skills, and taking turns. The children were so engaged and did an amazing job. We’re proud of how they participated, waited patiently for their turns, and enjoyed learning through play. Great work, everyone!

Library

During our library session, we gathered together for a cozy story time. We read a fun and engaging book all about colors and animals.  The students listened with great attention and curiosity. After the story, each student had the opportunity to choose their favorite book to take home. It was a wonderful way to encourage a love for reading and learning. We had such a great time together!

Ethiopian Center

At our Ethiopian Center, students had a wonderful time exploring the beauty and richness of Ethiopian culture. They had the chance to see and learn about various traditional Ethiopian instruments, try on colorful cultural clothes, and discover different traditional materials used in everyday life. The experience was not only educational but also a lot of fun! The students enjoyed every moment and left with smiles on their faces and new knowledge about Ethiopia’s unique.
