Dear Parents,
We hope this blog finds you well. We have had a wonderful and engaging week in Preschool. The students participated in a variety of hands-on activities that supported their creativity, thinking skills, and social development. Here is a look into everything we explored together…
Large Group
Our most recent large group sessions have been full of energy, learning, and happy moments! We began by sitting together in a big circle and greeting our students with a warm “Good morning”. We wished everyone a great day and then jumped right into our Good Morning song. The students chose the style—sometimes we sing standing up, sometimes sitting down, making it fun and interactive. After our song, we enjoyed listening to A Day at the Farm. The children paid great attention and were excited to talk about what they saw in the story. Next, we practiced our Zoo-phonics letters from A to Z, and everyone joined in with enthusiasm. We also reviewed the days of the week, talked about the day’s weather, and took attendance together. It was a fun, engaging session, and we are so proud of how well the students participated. We love starting our day this way!
Small Group
Art
In our art session, we focused on color mixing, and the children were very excited to experiment with different colors. We began by mixing red and white, and they were amazed to discover that these colors create pink. We talked about how new colors can be made by combining other colors, and the children enjoyed seeing the transformation happen right in front of them. For our exploration activity, we made homemade playdough using flour and water. The children eagerly took part in measuring, pouring, and mixing.
At first, they created simple white playdough. Then, we gave them a small amount of red food coloring, and they added it carefully to their dough. They were thrilled when their dough turned pink! Many students wanted to explore even more, so they started adding different food colors to make their own unique creations. Several children proudly said, “Look, I made rainbow playdough!” They were fully engaged, focused, and enthusiastic throughout the entire process. At the end of the session, everyone happily took their homemade playdough home.
Math
In our math session, we learned about patterns, with a special focus on AB patterns. We started by explaining what a pattern is and why patterns repeat in a specific order. Then, we demonstrated how to create an AB pattern using pom poms and small animal figures. After our demonstration, we provided the children with a variety of colorful materials, and they began creating their own patterns. They did an amazing job identifying and repeating sequences. Some children were so excited about patterns that they independently asked to create AABB patterns as well. It was wonderful to see their confidence, curiosity, and understanding grow.
Literacy
In our literacy session, we worked on journal writing and drawing. We asked the children where they would like to work, and everyone happily chose to go outside. We set up mats on the playground and provided journals, markers, and crayons. The children took their time creating their drawings. When they finished, we asked them to tell us about their pictures. Some children drew houses, cars, tigers, chickens, and even monsters! It was beautiful to see their creativity shine and to listen to their stories. This activity also supported the development of their speaking and expressive language skills
.
Cooperative Game
During our cooperative play session, the children made their own bubble mix! We gave them water, soap, and small containers. They mixed everything together very well and experimented with blowing different kinds of bubbles. After that, they decided to wash their pom poms using their bubble solution. They washed them very carefully, rinsed them again with clean water, and then placed them in the sun to dry. The entire activity was filled with teamwork, communication, and joy. The children worked well with their peers and enjoyed every moment of exploring water and bubbles.
Library
In our library session, we read a book called “A Day at the Farm”. The story introduced letters from A to Z, each connected to something we can find on a farm. The book had bright, interesting pictures that the children loved looking at. They listened attentively and enjoyed learning new vocabulary. After reading, the children chose their own favorite books to explore. Some even selected a book to take home. Dear parents, please remember to return the library folder every Thursday.
Science
In our science session, we continued preparing for our exciting flower-planting project. All the children brought recycled materials—cups and milk cans—from home. Thank you so much, dear parents, for sending these items on time! This week, the children painted their containers using brushes and their favorite colors. They wore art smocks to keep themselves clean while they worked. After painting, they placed their cups and cans in a sunny place to dry. Next week, they will plant their chosen flowers in their beautifully decorated containers.
